@mpjp0907: I drove my parents nuts as a kid to go to all the parades. Once I was old enough and especially after I got my own car, I went to as many parades as I could possibly attend. The last year that I was down there (2005), I went to 17 parades and 3 formal balls (not counting that I rode on Mardi Gras Day, Too!)

@ruk72: you were pretty close to Gallier Hall (old city hall) were the reviewing stands are. That's the part of the route where it segways from the uptown area to downtown . I would be down there the whole last weekend before Mardi Gras at Lafayette Square ( across from Gallier Hall) in the reviewing stands (I bought passes for the stands every year.....best way to see the mega-super krewes parades!)

[In Baton Rouge the Spanish Town Parade was always the most fun.  Full of political humor, and not a bit was politically correctEmoticon[quote-end-tag-mismatch]

@Fallon: Krewe d'état in New Orleans on the uptown route is the parade to see for political incorrectness (they were formed with former members of the old line krewes Momus & Comus, I know you remember those krewes/parades, I do!)
