Says Hi....:-)He is Getting big although in this picture from Monday he still looks puppyish. He is maturing good, very good health, dropped most of his boy parts ....LOL Still debating on when to have him fixed.....He is about 37 pounds and stands tall when he is up walking around. He isn't naughty, mean or aggressive at all but he doesn't train well as he is not very food/treat motivated and is very happy and loves people and life so much he just wants to check it all out and not concentrate on training but he did manage to pass Puppy One stuff, puppy two not so much yet, we will probably pick back up in class after the first of the year....LOLEnzo is NOT an easy dog to train but boy is he FUN FUN FUN, And EVERYBODY who meets him loves him and wants to steal him, he is the most loved dog by strangers I have ever owned and he returns that love 100% when people give him attention! One of the reasons training is hard outside of the home, everybody is always loving on him....roflmao!!! We often say EVERYBODY loves Enzo but its not all about you Enzo.....some day he will catch onto that! Yes I'm calling him an attention *****....:-)Loading Image... 4951

@DiverDude: Male Soft haired Wheatens Terriers often reach 40-45 pounds when full grown....They are not small dogs, they are on the high end of medium, they get quite tall also, he is about as tall as my knees, I'm 5 foot 6......its actually perfect for us as my Daughter plays rough with animals(not in a bad way), they are perfect for one another as they both are hyper and crazy.....LOLI'm also guessing weight as he went to the vet 2 weeks ago and was 34 but he has put a few pounds on but he is as skinny as skinny gets when bathed, looks like a total different dog when bathed....here he is same day(monday) after a bath....LOL.....PATHETIC LOOKING!!!!Loading Image...

Aww Emoticon if he's at least 6 months I'd get him neutered. Wheatens are not a slow maturing breed and if he's not going to be used as a high performance competitive sports dog, neutering young is fine and better in the long run, less chance of testicular cancer. 4951

@xjamiex: I like my dogs intact but since we will most likely get more dogs I will probably get him fixed, We dont breed or have accidents but I still always preferred intact dogs but I also don't enjoy the hassle of being responsible that comes along with having an intact dog around other dogs so most likely will get him fixed, Talked with the vet about it already, just haven't made a date with the knife yet....LOL

I love the Wheaten breed. I am training to be a groomer and this breed seems to be like the gentle giants of the medium sizes. By nature hyper, affectionate, but also very protective and territorial. Altered dogs tend to live longer then intact dogs but on the flip side they tend to be proned to being overweight. But sounds like y'all are a pretty active family. I love seeing "Enzo-Updates, although I have never had the privilege of meeting him Emoticon 4951

@4psychos: Statistically this tends to be true but its not always a health result reason as much as most and I say MOST , (but not all) owners with intact dogs many times are irresponsible. They don't fix their dogs, feed them well, give them care and often let them breed causing health to weaken and meeting an earlier death.Rescuers and vets are sick and tired of cleaning up the mess that is left behind because of unaltered dogs so it makes complete sense to spread the word in favor of always fixing a dog. And I agree with that 100% for the average owners. .Most owners don't realize dogs will chew through walls, break brick walls and jump out windows to breed. There is a HUGE and I mean HUGE responsibility that comes with intact dogs. Most wont pass that test so I always say GET YOUR DOGS FIXED....LOLI have always loved my dogs to be as close to nature as possible, I do not like them going under a knife just because others are irresponsible. I almost lost a dog under the knife and I just don't make my dog surgery decisions based on other peoples stupidity on breeding for money. That dog, we almost lost,  stayed intact and lived to 15.(She had no pups ever)
I fixed my chow mix who lived to be 18...yes 18 thats not a typo....LOLI lost my intact Rottweiler  to mammary cancer but she was 13...I'm pretty sure something else would have got her, given her age.(she also had no pups)Obviously if you remove body parts, they wont get cancer in that particular part but it isn't always the best thing for a dog that is other wise raised and cared for by educated and responsible owners. Its not a decision I take lightly. At this point I'm leaning to have them lopped off....roflmao. Mainly because as soon as our name is on a mortgage I will get more dogs...I always had lots of dogs but as a renter I keep the number down. I also don't feel like dealing with his horny self when people let their in heat ***** roam the neighborhood....LOL I'm just in no hurry to do it, but it will most likely be done soon, probably soon after the first time he howls all night because he gets a wiff of the good stuff close by....HA! 4951

Ohhh you are a much nicer person than I. I personally hate living with intact dogs...one female bleeding for a week in the house is enough, I don't want to add a *****y dog bleeding for 3 weeks into the mix. The risk of false pregnancies and pyometra seals the deal for me. My Dobe was intact for 2 years and has always been obedient and well behaved, but I certainly don't miss the teeth chattering everytime he sniffed another dog's scent, the foaming at the mouth, and the buck wild behavior when living with a ***** in season! My old roommate had a female giant schnauzer that was a show dog and came into heat while we lived together, yeeeah not fun!

Anyway, we could talk about the pros and cons of speutering all day but more importantly, you mentioned wanting more dogs eventually....you know I can hook you up with a sweet dobie or GSD Emoticon

@xjamiex: Thats why I said he would probably be fixed within 24 hours of the first night he howled all night over a girl.....HA! Yea I do want more dogs but as a renter its hard to find a place, especially with certain breeds and 400-600 a pop non refundable deposits are not nice either. We rent from my parents so I can have as much as I want here.......LOL We are looking into buying this house from them so I figured we will wait to see how all that goes before more dogs. I miss having a whole troop but My Rott wouldn't accept any "new" dogs so as I lost my others we didn't get anymore. Enzo LOVES at this point other dogs. He will probably loose his manhood parts shortly after the holidays, just havent set a date and in no hurry to....LOL
