Roxy is an awesome dog I have been caring for, for over a year now at my kennel. She was brought here by a personal rescue person. Unfortunately  she has a few issues that are keeping her from finding her forever home. she was heartworm positive, not sure where she stands right now, as her rescue person gave me the medication to treat her SEVERAL months ago, and I administered it and she received it all, only for her rescue person to not follow thru with monthly treatment, I no longer hear from her. She has what appears to be a chronic ear issue that she was taking prednisone and pain pills for, but I have used all the refills, and again, can not reach her rescue person.  She is wonderful with people, loves to love on you and be loved on, but does not like other dogs. I have her sectioned off here at the kennels because of this. I just can no longer keep her here, and I dont think it is fair for her, she lives here basically, and even though she comes out daily to play with us, I just dont feel she has the life she deserves, she deserves a family, and if I cant find her one soon, I will have no other option but to have her put down, as her rescue person does not return my calls, doesnt keep up on her meds or shots. Please help me find this girl a forever home, she really is a wonderful dog!

Im confused, donations were raised to help this dog but never used? why? Is this just lazy human error, not cashing checks, not taking her in to the vet, not treating her properly?....I'm not understanding this post so slap me with a noodle and fill me in....LOL  Does she have other issues like aggression or destruction or is this just health issues not being addressed?Loading Image... 4951

Im at a loss too. Her rescue person posted her then fell off the face of the earth again. I have been doing everything I can for her, I payed to have all her meds refilled, but all the refills are now gone, i googled the vets name on the bottle and am trying to get her more. I have heard nothing from her rescue person, but her issues are her ear, which has something to do with being part shar pei, and having a small ear canal, and is quite swollen from it, but she needs the prednisone to keep it under control. she is not aggressive to people, but does not like other dogs, which has become a problem here at my kennel. She LOVES people, but needs to be the only dog. I have no clue if the doxycycline treatment I gave her worked for her heartworm, as her rescue person gave me a bottle and she disappeared again, i refilled as necessary but now am trying to get her her monthly preventative. I am very frustrated with the situation, and in desperate need to get her a home, she deserves one, but yea, her donations are here, but never used, and im about ready to use them for some vet care, since I can not reach her rescue person. 4951

To protect yourself legally. you need to call the people who wrote the checks and ask if you can cash the checks for " said purpose". The checks are old and would not be used for the intended purpose they were written for. 4951

@lojo49015:

Do you know how much her meds are, or could you find out from the vet? Where is she currently at 4951

Breaks my heart. Sounds like this poor baby has been given up on more than her fair share of times. Not saying by the OP. Clearly the kennel has and is doing everything they can. But a kennel is not a good place for a dog to live who doesn't get along with other dogs. I hope someone gives this girl the chance she deserves. 4951

I lived with a dog to dog aggressive dog for 13 years, although it means no other dogs and no off lead in public its really not that difficult . If it wasn't for enzo I would take her but reading over the other thread it seems no one can say how she is with kids.Im betting thats what people are really worried about. Has anyone temperament tested this dog BY A PROFESSIONAL at all.Dog to dog aggression or what sounds like minor health issues should NOT be a death sentence! 4951

The issue with VAP is they already have their capacity of dog-aggressive dogs I thought...and Twyla's...all us fosters have other dogs. The situation with this dog is so sad and it sounds like the poor kennel lady has done all she can for her without anymore support from the community. 4951

I TT this dog when I saved her from euthanasia at Pasadena animal control. As I was about to leave the shelter after evaluating 4 German Shepherds for my rescue, Roxy's owner pulled up with her in tow and was going to dump her. Shelter was full so they said she would be euthanized. I pleaded with the guy to give me a couple days to see if I could find someone to take her from there. Posted on FB, one thing led to another, she was picked up by a friend and taken to Kingwood kennels. This dog has been networked a lot, I've taken professional photos of her, she's been passed around all over fb, yet NO rescue group or individual has ever been Interested in her. Wallace has probably exhausted all efforts for 2 years trying to find someone to take this dog, as I have. I'm sure she has a good explanation because I've always known her to be a stand-up rescuer. We tried hard to save this girl but sometimes they just can't all be saved so I totally understand euthanasia, though it upsets me to the core. 4951
