So I have been thinking long and hard. What exactly is a disability? And what exactly is equal access? Isnt a disability something that prevents someone from doing day to day activities? Equal access is pretty self explanatory. So...that said, wouldnt someone being too tall be a disability? Lets take a look at all the problems my fiance faces on a regular basis from being tall. He CANT sit in my car...so if we take his in for new tires he has to wait there...he doesnt fit and cant get in. When we fly he CANT assume the crash position because his head is above the seat in front of him and he cant lean forward because of his legs. This is a safety precaution, plus he regularly hits his head on the overhead bins causing headaches and in turbulence possible brain damage. He cant take a shower in a normal shower because the shower head only comes to his chest. Clothing, thats a joke, even for me at 5'11". He cant buy a cheaper car because he cant fit. He eats more food. The list goes on. Like door ways and store signage. If the government requires equal access for fat people, why not tall people? Something seems a little unfair. Any other tall people with me? 4951

Hes 6'7"...these are things most people dont think about. As a 5'11" female it is harder for me to find clothes because what fits around is too short. I am currently on the look out for shirts that are in a small tall...old navy only goes down to a medium...pants...30" waist, not hips (i wish) and a 36" inseam...and im still losing 2-3 pounds a week with weight to go...he hits his head on the ceiling fan daily...36x38 pants are hard to find which he has to sag to make them long enough, along with size 16 shoes that we always have to replace because he really needs a 17...its my rant about how people dont understand the issues tall people face...i get so mad when people ask my height and claim they wish they were tall...if yall remember those cute little things hanging from the celing, well...we get laughed at in most stores for hitting our heads on everything...i luck out by a few inches sometimes...i even had to order my wedding dress 3 sizes big for the length (even in a tall) and have it altered down...a normal wedding dress is made for girls 5'6 with 2 inch heels and tall is for girls 5'8 with 2 inch heels...im just gonna cut off my legs...lol 4951

Being disabled isn't what it used to be. Ever go to the Social security office? I was shocked to see no blue hairs, just young people getting their SSI. sucks because the parking lot was filled with cars nicer than mine.I also see lots of people park in the handicapped spots, put up their blue sign and walk right into the store. Maybe one day God will answr their prayer and make them handicapped for real. 4951

Big feet are a problem.  I don't think 12's are big, but man alive, trying to find shoes for my dh and oldest son is a nightmare.  Well not if I don't mind spending a lot of money, but cheap shoes are out.Both wear a 124E.  So we have to get tennis shoes from New Balance, and dress shoes from Rockport.Rarely do I ever find a pair for under 100.  Usually it is over.  And my son is only 13.

@Fallon:

My neighbor back home had giagantism and I think he was a 14 eee. He alway had the hardest time finding shoes for his huge feet too 4951

What about short people?

They have issues too. My SIL is barely 5 feet tall and she has a hard time finding clothes. But there's a big difference b/t inconvenient and a true disability.

this whole post started from watching some show and finding out snookie gets disability for being short. That is so unfair. Yes people below 5ft might have a problem finding clothes, and need a booster seat to drive, but so do tall people, well not a booser seat). i just think that if the government is giving out all these free hand outs for stupid s***, i might as well get some too.  Emoticon @ Fallon: whats this 124E? Is it another shoes size option?  4951
