I am looking at a Kindle fire for a lighter, more portable version of the iPad. But i need to know if it can operate games and apps like the iPad. I don't want one that's only good for books and internet. 4951
It supports YouTube...have had no issues with limited apps, but I notice the wait time is a little longer with a few of the newer releases. LOVE my KF! My favorite part is how light it is. Get the new HD version with the camera! 4951
Great! I'll do a little more research but i've heard good things about it. I'll probsbly get the one with the camera. Then i can bore people with pictures of my fur babies! 4951

You do realize Apple's about to release a smaller version of the iPad later this month, right? Google for iPad mini and you'll see what I'm talking about. 4951
The iPad mini is going to be $200-250, according to one tech review website. I can get a regular KF for $160 or a Kindle Fire HD for $200 (or of course look on ebay, overstock, etc. for better prices). I suspect that if I want more features on an iPad mini I'll need to fork out more, but thanks for the tip! 4951
If you want smaller that an ipad with the features, better get an iphone.....I love my ipad, and it doesn't weigh anything, not sure how "light" you want it to be, but if it was any lighter you would be holding air....JMO 4951
I have 4 Kindle Fire's in my house and we all love them. My wife read books all summer on hers and we all play games and read on them. We downloaded a book for my daughter for a school report. I think they're excellent for the price and hardware inside. 4951
