all the republicans have asked Akin to leave the senate because of his remarks on "rape"
they have said it is not that he made a mistake in his wording , but he has a huge flaw in his thinking & understanding of rape.
Romney has asked Akin not to come to the republican convention & has asked  him to please step down for the sake of the republican party.
Akin on the other hand said he stands by his principals & will not step down from the senate but he will not attend the republican convention .....
MyCain says Akin "shocked him with his statements" & needs to step aside for the sake of the republican party....

Romney supporters say that they believe Akin will ruin the republican partys chance for the White House if he does not step aside. 4951

Let the guy stay in the race and let the citizens of Mizz decide. The bar for public service has been set low by President Clinton that nothing short of beating a dog should keep one from being elected. 4951

how about putting a dog inside a cage on top of your car & driving over 1000 miles at 70 mph ....? That's what Romney did to his dog .....he said the dog liked it , however the dog did not comment he ran away once he got out of his cage . 4951

I have always gone under the rule ...if you are not  invited to the party do not be a party crasher ....since the republican party has pulled all it's support from Akin & he is asking for private support now , I do not think he will stay in the race much longer . What I'm wondering is who will take his place on the republican side ? I do not worry about the democrates , they can take care of their selves . And we have all seen what they can do (LOL) sorry .... 4951

How the GOP Keeps Distracting Voters from Obama’s Biggest WeaknessThe latest WSJ/NBC poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney 48 percent to 44 percent and is outpacing his rival on issues such as likability. But President Obama is clearly vulnerable on a number of levels as 54 percent of those polled disapprove of his handling of the economy and 61 percent believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. These findings are generally consistent with other national polls and show the opportunity Mitt Romney has to defeat the President. But Romney and the Republicans are hurting themselves by focusing on issues other than Obama's primary area of weakness."You'd think the GOP would hammer away, 24-7 on jobs and the economy," Valliere says. "That's the great albatross for Obama, yet the Republicans keep getting sidetracked."Romney's choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate clearly elevated the importance of economic issues in the campaign, but turned the discussion to the federal budget and Medicare rather than jobs, Valliere declares. 4951

@Wjo no worse than dressing up ones dog on any given holiday, or worse yet putting a sweater on the dog. I see dogs in the back of pick up trucks all the time.  A friend of mine from Australia would have his cattle dogs jump onto the platform he put on his dirt bike and they would ride around the ranch going to livestock or chasing roos.

Anyway, 'nuff of the distraction. We will hit $16 Trillion defecit by this Friday, 8.2 percent unemployment, $3.60 unleaded for unleaded gasoline. And Obama's tax hikes have not even started yet.

But go on and talk about some knucklhead whose beliefs are not as loony as global warming or evolution. 4951

Barbara Boxer just said Republicans don't love their mothers or first wives.  Where are the calls for her to resign?President Obama just misspelled Ohio.  Where are the calls for him to resign?A MN state senator solicited and had sex with a 17 year old.  The age of consent in MN is 16, but if a R solicited sex in that manner there would be shrieks of "step down". 4951

@ Texins...my dogs are "dogs" I do not dress them up , they ride inside my van not outside of it . They get the best of medical care , fed better than some humans & they are spoiled , I know this & love them , they are my 4 legged children. I just wish all pet owners would treat thier pets as well as we do ours....

As for political garbage I could care less , this country will run with or without my vote or yours ( but I do vote) it's a privilege to be able to vote in a country that allows me to be FREE because of the people that have given life & limb for me to be able to have that privilege.

As for the debt that this country is in ...well maybe if the countries that owe us mega bucks would pay us back it would really drop our numbers, or how about if we stopped sending so much money to other countries & start investing it in our own country for awhile ?

I heard on the news last night where the government has set aside $150,000,000 to help college students
pay for their schooling with low interest rates to zero rates. My feelings on this is ...why not let them pay for their own schooling if they want to further their education , I paid for mine by working 3 jobs . Take that $150,000,000 & put it where it will extend the social security funds or better still use it to give everyone better medical care in the US.

Just my opinion.... 4951

@Wjo my comment regarding dressing up dogs wasn't directed towards you.  My vote does count. Unfortunately it will probably be negated by some illegal voting or some democrat that thinks it is their job to vote 10 times. 4951

@ Texins...didn't think it was directed at me , just wanted to state I did not dress my dogs up , I know alot of people do cause the "animal clothing" business is making money . Like you I hope my vote counts , but if you remember when Al Gore was running against Bush , when it came to Florida Bush had a brother that was governor & his brother made sure the votes were in Bush' favor . The demand for a recount proved Bush lost & Gore won , however Bush had already been sworn in .....so no matter how we vote it's up to "the in crowd" to  make sure the votes are counted honestly .....I wonder  how many are ????? 4951
