Anyone have a good suggestion for a Brake Repair place locally? I used the Brake Check (or whatever it's called) in front of Home Depot right there off 59 in Humble and they were awful. Same for the Meineke on 1960 in Humble. 4951

Do you need repair or just new pads? 4951

@KwoodRedRaider: If it's a simple pad change I can do it! :D other than that, I'm not sure because I do all my own work. Emoticon

What ever you do don't got to just brakes, they are crooks. My brother had went there and they replaced his whole breaks system, then he had to take it back for them to finish something up and they guy was trying to tell him the breaks are bad and he needs new ones. Then he told the guy they just replaced them he suddenly could not speak English, and no one else could either even though they spoke English the whole time.  4951

I like the guys at Kingwood Service Center.  They are behind the Shell station on the corner of Northpark and WLH.  I have been going there for 8 years or so.  They are honest, well they always have been with us.  I drive a 17 yr old vehicle and they have kept it up and running and not ripped me off yet.

I second this.  I've been using Derek's shop for at least 15 years.  They're reliable and honest. 4951

I recommend going to the dealer - I always get great service and they stand behind their work. And you get OEM parts. 4951

I take my car to Firestone on Northpark. They are honest and friendly and they do courtesy checks. I would prefer the dealer but that option is inconvenient for me. 4951

If you frequent the same dealer, they give you discounts. I took my daughter's car to a cheaper place 3 times for brakes and finally had to go to the dealer to fix what the other place did not do correctly.

I had my timing belt changed at the dealer for cheaper than what the place on W. Lake Houston near Bank of America quoted me. 4951

I was going to tell you I'd heard only negative things about Brake Check. For all car related work, I go to independent shops.  The chains all try to fleece you.  The corporations hire consultants to teach them to maximize revenue from everyone customer (victim).  Often you are dealing with the owner at the private owned places. 4951

I will recommend 2 places. my first choice is G&S on Northpark next to jiffy lube. Second is the shop behind the Shell station on West Lake Houston and Northpark. 4951

DONT use just for brakes!  I think they closed down off northpark anyways.  My husband took his HHR there for a simple fix and replace rotors.  The forgot to attached BOTH the emergency brake cables back.  We took it back to them twice and they said nothing they did was wrong.  Well the cable finally busted, husband finally got under the car himself and found that the cables werent attatched properly and the brace that held them on to the brake busted in half.  Ended up costing us another 500 to get all the stuff replaced! Vics on northpark behind the sport center is good.  4951
