I don't think it looks bad,  just very different....   Maybe the reason it is not finished is becuase it is not within deed restrictions and its on hold as they fight it out, I bet that is the case.

How does that happen?

When we built our first house, we had to  get a construction loan.  The money is there, and it is taken out in draws from the construction company as they meet certain milestones, and then are given the approval by inspectors.  The construction company had to do things right to get the inspection passed, in order to get their money.

I can't imagine a construction company starting the work unless they knew the money was in place.

How do you build any differently here?

My guess is the original house was destroyed (fire or Ike) and this is the replacement. I would think the HOA would look at renderings prior to approval to make sure it is consistent with the neighborhood's architecture.

@TexINS: it was before Ike, I can't remember if it was a fire or the owners abandoned it & it went into disrepair- I moved to BB in 2004 & it was an empty lot and stayed that way until about 2-3 years ago. This has been addressed on the other site more than once. It sure is different looking from the rest of the neighborhood.

To say it looks like a mosque was a tad racist and or bigoted. It looks like any modern day home built in the western half of the USA. Out of place yes, but it looks a lot better than some homes in the neighborhood.

@Collins3 How is my comment racist or bigoted? The home doesn't look old colonial, contemporary, traditional, ranch or even mediterranian for that matter. If you look at the small details around the house it looks like something out of the middle east or a mosque. I doubt 80% of the people in this country knows what the word racist or bigoted mean. But they love to throw the word around anyway. What did I hear, oh Rosa Parks rolling over.
