A 51-year-old Springtown woman turned herself in to lawmen last week following the shooting of her next-door neighbor's dog.Elizabeth
Day Wesley is facing three felony charges, including cruelty to a
non-livestock animal, deadly conduct discharging a firearm, and unlawful
possession of a firearm by a felon.The
dog's death on May 10 was the peak of years of simmering resentment
between Wesley and her neighbors in the 500 block of Shady Hill Lane,
according to the Weatherford Democrat. The paper reported the Parker County Sheriff's Department responded to 29 calls by Wesley since 2003.According
to the report, Wesley believed the black and white pit bull had been
chasing her cow. She told deputies she drove by the neighbors house and
saw the animal in a fenced yard with the gate closed, but fired her .410
shotgun anyway. Her neighbor came out of his home returned fire with a
pistol.
