Anyone know of a good sleep apnea doc around kingwood?  What was the treatments they offered?  I am pretty sure I have it very bad and it is starting to take a toll on me and my wife.  4951

my husband has it , our regular doctor sent him to a sleep clinic where  he had to spend the night while  he was monitored during his sleeping . Then he was sent home with a breathing machine & a mask to wear while he sleeps . He no longer snores but he says the mask is hot & uncomfortable . 4951

I snore pretty bad, so I tried this product www.puresleep.com It really works. I had no desire to get a mask or someone to operate on me. Try this first and see if it helps. 4951

I went to Dr. Grogan in KW Hospital area.He does good for sleep apnea, plus they have a sleep center right there, no tracking down to the med. center or some such nonsense like that. 4951

I did a sleep study through Kelsey-Seybold.  Their sleep-clinic was in the SW part of Houston.  I have severe sleep-apnea (snoring and my breathing stops while sleeping)  and now wear a "breathing mask".  This system is called CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) and helps prevent you from stopping breathing (that sounds weird).  I sleep better now and feel rested in the mornings.  If your problem is snoring without breathing stoppages, there are several different things you can try (see TexINS post). It's the breathing stoppages that are the real problem.  They can cause/worsen cardiac problems.  Good luck! 4951

Yea My Wife says I stop breathing and I now have high blood pressure so I am pretty sure I need to see a specialist. They can cut a whole in the back of my head for all I care as longs as I can a decent nights sleep and my wife can sleep comfortably. I do not want a mask but I guess that is better than a divorce or a trip to the OR for a heart attack,  or stroke. I will try Dr. Grogan possibly next week.  I went to a cardio Doc and they just want to pump me full of drugs for high blood pressure.  I am taking them, but the Dr's seem completely uninterested in the fact that I have said I stop breathing at night. 4951

@hlh212:   If your Cardiologist is ignoring your sleep apnea, I would question his treatment.  My cardio doctor is the one that sent me to see a Pulminologist (breathing doctor).

So far so good. Best $60 I spent. Prior to using it, my wife would hit me several times a night. Several times a week I would wake up and she would be gone; either sleeping on the sofa or guest room. That sucked, so I decided to try this before the medical route.

I believe they give you a 30 day money back guarantee. The first week or so was a pain. I kept waking up and taking the mouthpiece out. Teeth and jaw hurt a bit too. Now, never have a problem. Wife sleeps the whole night through.

Last week I forgot to put the mouthpiece in(wife was out of town) and the next day I was so tired. I was probably waking up several times during the night becuase of the snoring.

Good luck hope it works. 4951

@WJo:   Tell your husband to try the "nostril pillows" instead of the masks.  It has a band around the head and the soft plastic pieces fit into the nostrils.  There are three sizes so you can find one to get a good seal.   That's what I use because the masks pinch the bridge of my nose.
