I suppose this question has been posted so many times, but as we are new to having a dog(only 9 weeks old when we pick him up this Sunday) an sadly as we would love to have the real best no matter the price, this won't be possible since I don't have a job right now, May I ask you guys out there about a good vet that offers a good affordability / quality ratio? Thanks!! 4951

We use Glade Valley on NP. They've always done a great job and are not unreasonable. 4951

I use pet care express for basic care and preventions bc they are the cheapest and have been around forever. I've been taking rescue dogs to them for 5 years now. Their office fee is only 9 bucks.

Cypresswood Animal Hospital in Spring off Aldine Westfield is the cheapest for shots.

Your dog will need 3 sets of puppy shots.

She typically charges $60 for annual vaccinations for adult dogs, this includes a heartworm check, if u want a bordatella, it's $15 extra.

I have found she offers the best price for shots.

I use Veterans Memorial & Lone Star for illnesses or emergencies. Veterans offers everything from stem cell therapy to acupuncture/chiropractic care. Their # is 281-440-4441. Cypresswood # is 281-353-9412. 4951

Glade valley on north park as well. You can also go to Petsmart, their vet has a starter value package for shots.I hope someone in your family is working because dogs (especially pups) aren't cheap. 4951

Crosby Vet Clinic is cheap.  My parents use them.  Office visits are $25 and a fecal is only $5.  Not sure about vaccinations but I am paying $60 for an office visit and $30 for fecal where I am now and will drive to Crosby in the future. 4951

Cool. Our pup came with alot of problems (worms, kennel cough, fleas etc) so bills added up. We liked Glade Valley because they don't hit you with an office visit fee when you bring your dog back for n extra round of treatment. 4951

Crosby is very cheap, but you must wait, like the DMV.2 hour process. Pet Express, that Jamie mentioned is alsocrazy cheap, but you must wait as well. If you need a vet to treat a sick animal, these are not good for that At all!! Lonestar vet and Glade Valley would be the best for that, imo. Learned all this rescuing dogs here... 4951

With all due respect mariasmith, I totally disagree with you about Crosby Vet on your statement.  They are incredibly cheap - yes....and, yes sometimes there is a long wait.  If your dog/cat/horse is sick and can't wait the "wait time", they will get you back asap......I was sitting there one time w/ all 4 of my dogs (and I only paid for ONE "office visit") and someone came in carrying their dog - it had been hit by a car.  They immediately took them to the back and started working on that dog.  The vet tech came out to tell us that were waiting that due to the emergency, the wait may be a bit longer than usual.  VERY COOL of them to do.  Emoticon  ALSO, another time someone came in with a very sick looking dog and they took it right back.  If it appears/sounds like/is an emergency type visit.....they will rush you back and not make you wait.  But, yes it can be a 2 hour wait...But it is that long for a reason...They are AMAZING vets!!!  My old dogs would get sick as they aged, and they took such good care of them!  People will drive from hours away to go there.
Of course, at every vet I am sure someone has had a bad experience...which may be what make them feel negatively towards that vet....
If you are concerned about prices (which I am as well), I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Crosby Vet.

I don't know anything about the vet XJam was talking about, but if she will take her dogs there, they MUST be good......(And, if any of you know @XjamieX: you know this is true).  Emoticon  I would go there as of today if it weren't all the way in Houston.  Emoticon  Esp. if Xjam recommends them... 4951

The cheaper vets are great for routine things like shots, deworming, etc. If your animal has a major illness than it's important to find a good vet who you trust and get established with them. I have used many vets in KW and some were good, some I would never recommend.

I make the drive to Veterans Memorial because I love Dr Knapp. My brother took his dog to see her last month because he had labored breathing, she examine him and took x-rays, she told him she was 99.7 percent sure he had cancer, probably lymphoma. She made a referral to a specialist that afternoon for him. Sure enough, he has lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemo. Most vets would have probably tried to treat him initially with antibiotics, but she said she was pretty sure it was cancer. She was 100 % right. 4951

Pharlap- I had a foster dog whose eye was  literraly popping out due to scerosis..she was in agonizing pain..I waited 2 hours and then when they saw her they said she had to wait 30 days for surgery.I was crying the whole time. They were nice enough, but they would NOT move up the surgery. I asked the vet if he thought the dog could wait that long,he said no,so I should go to another vet. He said he was sorry,he could not change the surgery shcedule. ( I did leave there and another vet  took her eye out as emergency surgery THAT day)  I had been a few times and always had to wait. Once they did that to me and and my poor Grace, I never went back. My neighbor goes there and likes them, but always has to wait. You  have had your experience, I had mine....Grace was screaming in pain over her eyeball pooping out,and they did NOTHING but waste 2 hours of our time, when she could have been out of pain. It was awful. Grace did not deserve that!!
As far as Pet Express, I have been a few times and the place ONLY does routine shots ect. Always a wait. Worth the wait for savings,,unless you have a screaming toddler who will not waity 2 hours.... 4951
