How could they not have insured it?

I've heard that it was a good place for catfish and that the owners were very friendly.

I'm sure they had insurance.  But insurance companies always have their loop-holes.
My insurance companies wouldn't cover my stolen trailer.   Auto insurance says it only covers if it was attached to the vehicle and theft is only included on items within the vehicle.  Home owner's wouldn't cover it because it is DOT and therefore covered under auto insurance.

I wondered about those trailers, and even about that little shed that the guy has over there.  It was only a matter of time before someone broke in or stole them.
Amazing.

You self insure (not paying insurance)and go on the cheap by not having insurance and that is the chance you take.  Any agent worth their license could have easily gotten insurance coverage on the trailer, equipment and inventory. Probably would have cost less than $1k per year. But my guess is that they never asked. would have been terrible if they were driving down the road with the trailer, trailer detaches on Hwy 59 and causes a serious accident. They would not have had insurance to cover the damages (maybe had it listed as a personal trailer-not commercial- so insurance company does not have to pay).
Lesson learned.

Really a shame. They are trying to create a business and look what happens.  They have quite a following too.

That's a shame, but not insuring a business that had wheels is also a shame.

I saw a catfish trailer leaving forest cove on Monday.  I am sure it was the trailer for the place on Northpark.

When I saw that trailer gone I thought "don't tell me someone stole it."  Sure enough, someone stole it.
