I went to the Insperity Championship yesterday to see the tournament, and yes more so to see "Golf's Greats" as it was billed. Many of those greats were already seniors when I was a young golfer, but I knew of them anyway: Gene Littler, Miller Barber. And of course I knew of and watched on TV Jack, Arnie, Gary and Lee. I did see Lee play live at the Colonial once.Yesterday was a goosebump filled moment. The minute I watched the first 3 some walk onto the green at the island green 13th I got goosebumps. And of course to see Arnie (The King), Jack (Golden Bear) and Gary Player together was the biggest goosebump moment. We watched them tee off on 14, then my son and I hightailed it back to the Insperity tent to join my 82 year old mom (same age as Arnie and one of those in the old Arnie's Army) and my sister to watch them come in. The crowd went nuts when Palmer sank the long birdie putt, and then Nicklaus decided to show he could do it and dropped in the same putt.My 15 year old son knew very little of these golfters, maybe only a bit about Jack and Arnie. But he too understood the significance of the moment as he took several pictures on his iPhone and posted them to facebook. It was a day he'll remember I am sure, and one I'll cherish for having seen it and experienced it with him, and with my Mom. 4951
