My DH applied for a position suggested by a companies HR person.  So he did and she lined him up with an interview today.  He just got back and tells me that there was no opening and the HR person should have known that.  AUGH!!!!!!!!  BTW, this HR person is an old friend of mine and IF she did know, she could call the house anytime to tell him not to bother.   4951

It's a shame he wasted his time.  Unless you know otherwise, give the HR person the benefit of the doubt that she made a mistake.  There may actually be a job opening but management already has someone in mind to fill it.  4951

Agree with RE. Management doesn't always communicate with HR in a timely fashion. Vise versa as well. 4951

It was just initially upsetting, since it seemed like a sure deal.   4951

How was she able to set up an interview if the position wasn't available? Sounds like they made a decision before your husband interviewed. That sucks by the way! Job hunting is stressful. 4951

No interview is a waste of time. The best qualified doesn't always get the job. Mant times, its the best interviewee who gets the job. 4951

Yep, interviewing is a skill.   You are the product and you are trying to sell yourself.  4951
