Very pleased with progress today.  I posted a thread a few months back named "SuddenLy--I'm disconnected" but unfortunately it's no longer listed because of the recent KWDC issues.

Long story short.....many issues with suddenlink cable over multiple months.  Dotted all I's and crossed all T's to no avail.  I was on the fence 2mos ago but didn't cancel as I travel often for work and as we all know daily many things sometimes take higher priority.   I called sdn three weeks ago to add HBO due to wanting to watch a series with my fiance' that I saw in a hotel....HBO exclusive.    Upgraded to a DVR and p/u at local
WLH office.....would not function.   Exchanged again...still guide and DVR a no go.  Called a tech and burned 1/2 a day waiting who confirmed there were no signal issues within my home and also replaced the box again (all used ones)....still didn't work.    Five calls to tech support.....unit would still not take a remote ping.
As a last effort I scheduled an outdoor (direct) run test with a tech for this past Sunday....1-5pm.    Tech never showed and didn't call and our family burned a nice weekend afternoon waiting for non-resolution.  Done.

I already have a phone line in my home via CenturyLink; added DirecTV premier and also 10m upload DSL on existing account.  My last sdn bill was up to 135./mo as per current rate increase in which they did not inform me of when I called for an upgrade.  Now I have 230 channels, great HD, tech arrived on time, and also my net upload net speed is 10 meg instead of 1.5 for a total of ~90/monthly.    In addition, I had a brief support issue today and customer service was very helpful.  The DirecTV tech also dropped a very well installed lead in a second bedroom for no charge!

In short for those considering Suddenlink I urge you to seek other options.  This is to you "Ashley"...the most pleasant experience I've ever had with sdn was to cancel.  As a bonus, I retain better service, more net speed, a lower bill, on-time tech arrivals, more HD channels and also Co. who is not going to charge me for internet "overage" Mb usage and who is also working to drop AMC right before the premier of Walking Dead this coming Sunday.

Buh Bye!   :D  .....and wish I would have ended this toxic relationship years ago.

I had the same issues with Suddenlink a little over a year ago. I will go without cable if I have to just so I dont have to use them. They are ridiculous! And the bad thing is that they have a monoply in Kingwood and know it.

Ironically when I went in to the office today staff were indifferent.  I work in sales and in any sense when a customer has an issue you try to resolve it to avoid losing business and/or also try to make those that pay for a service feel redeemed and satisfied.    I felt none of that.  Either their customer svc is inept or they have these complaints all the time and know that (1) they suck and (2) there is no resolution.

Bottom line @Hoopca is that in 45 minutes I've achieved all I've ever wanted....across the SAME lines within my house that sdn said could possibly be defective in wiring.   I very much wish that I would have saved myself ~20 hours of engagement in both appts, phone calls and also hold times.  I will not get that back but I can STRONGLY express as to stay away from these vultures!!!

I write this this eveinng on my 10Mb up while watching a 1080p DVR film for the first time ever.....for less.  All it took was a phone call and and less than an hour of my day.

I've also seen evidence of sdn being based in CA (Canada) but it's very hard to find and amongst many diverse stateside investments.   Food for thought. "Ashley"---please post a public comment!

Ashley please respond. Why are SL services failures increasing? There is no excuse for missed service appointments. Complaints on this message board continue to increase. Is there anything going on within your organizations causing the lack of quality? Beware, while SL service failures continue and SL rates increase your customers will continue to seek alternatives, including this VIP perks customer!

It seems obvious to me why Suddenlink has been increasing their prices lately. They are losing customers, so in order to make a profit, they'll have to increase prices to the remaining customers to cover their losses of those who left.

I left SL years ago for my cable service. I only have internet service now and was told, in a letter, that there's a limit on that.  Any overage and they will charge me extra.  WHAT?

SL - bottom line, y'all are losing your minds.

TXtransplant – Please accept my apologies regarding your experience with us.  I wish that we were able to resolve these issues before you disconnected, but I’m happy to hear that your new service is working out well.

As an FYI: Suddenlink is based only in the US.

Railroader – I would be happy to assist you if you’re experiencing any issues with your service.  Please feel free to contact me directly: Ashley-AT-suddenlink-DOT-com.

Thanks!

Typical useless Suddenlink form letter response. Skirt the actual issues and questions and give some hokey Pollyanna answer.

I found Suddenlinks handling of the recent issue with AMC to be absurd.  Suddenlink sends out e-mails and letters to its customers asking us to contact AMC and complain about the price increase.  I wrote Suddenlink and told them that I expected them to negotiate with AMC so that we retain this channel without raising our rates.  I got a response that said they've settled with AMC.... but I suspect we'll see a price increase soon.  Direct TV and Dish are looking better all the time.

I had a little trouble in our older house with older wiring. But since we have moved there has really been no issues. We have phone, security internet and cable. We recently upgraded to the TiVo boxes and I do have to say they are much better than the used broken Suddenlink HD/dvr boxes. We had directtv for a while and I hated it. We have had no outages. Not happy about the internet tiers. We will see how that goes.

Our sudden link is suppose to be 10 speed.  It always varies though sometimes getting down to .5 for a few seconds.    If this continues, or we get an overage on our downloading we will go back to century link.   They now offer 10 in our area.

I went for century for 10. My sudenlink service constantly bottomed out--especially in the evening hours. It had been like this for years....waited WAY too long to make the change! If you partner with Directv 10m is 29.95/mo for 12 months. It does rise to
49.99 after a year however--but that's the same I was paying before to sdn.

CenturyLink serves all of Kingwood.....their office is in the strip center with Randalls and massage envy on Kingwood drive. You can get Internet wo an actual phone line but not sure if that would be an addl cost.
