I need to bring a house gift to someone that has everything that money can buy.  However, someone told me that she loves tamales. I would to surprise her with some really good ones if anyone can suggest where I should go. Also, not being a tamale connoisseur myself, please let me know if there is certain filling that is best to get.thanks   4951

Granny's Tamales are the best.  They have salsa there too.  Chicken or pork, either is the best.  Old 1960 in Humble.  Always have on hand but if ordering large quantities, best to call to place order.   4951

Grande Tamales is at the Farmers Market on Thursdays. Many varieties... masa is homemade. The owner was a chef in Mexico. 4951

Theres a little taco shop off 59 in Porter. Its by Pats donuts.

They will put whatever you want in them, you just gotta order a week in advance.

If you get them, make sure to go to Kingwood meat market and pick up some red & green salsa to go with the tamales.

@mm4731:
I recommend that taco place mentioned by pats doughnuts.
They have the best tacos just had me some this morning. All the ingredients are homemade.
They have the nicest ppl there too.

They have cheese and jalapeño tamales. Mmmmmmmm.........

A former Latina coworker had a family pre-Christmas tradition where they all get together and made hundreds of tamales for all their families.  4951

One of my co-workers moms makes them and sells them at all the holidays.  I don't know what kind they are but they are awesome.  I think it's pork.  I forgot them at work yesterday so I just got back from the Greenspoint area picking them up.  My DH was looking for them when he came home from work last night..lol.  Dinner tonight. 4951

I am cooking up a pork butt in the crock pot tonight so I can turn it into tamales tomorrow. I can't wait, it's been a couple years since I've made tamales. 4951
