It's supposed to be the coldest it's been in Denver in 2 yrs yikes ! The temp tomorrow morning is 5 degrees with 3 to 5 inches of snow . Then Thursday is even colder !
Its a good thing I don't have to get up early all I have to do is uber it to the airport and fly home .

I know what they are- up North I tried to NoT own a vehicle that required those( back in the day we used cat little or bird seed. After I bought a Jeep I never had to worry about it.

PS 3-5 is a dusting in CO! What I hated was ice covered by snow which would melt a bit and then refreeze- over and over - I hated that BS 4951

You don't normally need chains in the metro area. The sun melts much of the.light snowfall within a few hours, unless it's a longer storm. The news will overplay the first few snowfalls. All season tires were usually enough. We lived south of denver at a higher altitiude and they were fine.

No matter when I decided to shovel off the driveway, shortly thereafter the city truck would come by, plowing the snow off the road and I would have a huge pile at the end of the drive to shovel, again. 4951

Not long after we moved here in 1993, my wife's father had a heart-attack.  We packed some bags and hit the road to where he lives (NE of Little Rock, AR).  Fortunately, we stopped to get gas in Kingwood and the clerk asked if we were going any where.  I said "yes" and asked why.  She said a bad cold front with freezing rain was headed our way.  We came home so I could check the weather.  The freeze was already south of Dallas so we would have ran right into it.  We stayed home until the ice melted several days later, then hit the road.  Now, I check the weather forecast before leaving for any distance! The few icy conditions I've lived through convinced me that I don't want to live in the far north! 4951

I'm surprised the roads are so bad. I'm actually in stapleton and drive montview east and then south on havana and that stretch is the pits ! You would think all the taxes they make on my weed purchases we would have the best roads. Nah not by a long shot . I have ventured out for a drive down colfax headed into town and there are some straight up sketchy places . Already had one incident but alls good .

@staylifted: sounds about right. They plow as needed, minimally. After a major blizzard (ages ago) Mayor Fredrico Pena had the dump trucks drive the roads to pack down the snow, major fail, lol!!! They rely on the sun, and it works most of the time, plow plus sun. The plus is, no corriding salt for your vehicles.

I used to carry rock salt bags....200# during the winter on my 2wd. Btw....you're doing it wrong.  Put them over the axle instead of at the rear of the truck. 4951

@TXtransplant: Lol I remeber that now!!! My Dad explained that to me when when I was learning to drive our big old '66 Chrysler Newport. Lol don't know why he bothered - the thing must've weighed as much as a tank!!! I loved that car- it hauled butt and I felt like I was nice and safe.
