Did anyone else have a tire pressure alert from the cold weather temperature drop. My truck on the way home from work lit up and my SUV lit up too when I drove it last night. Checked both vehicles for nails and found none. All eight tires were about 7-8 pounds low on air pressure.

@SwaggyG:

Ours came on this week... One tire dropped down to 28. After driving it for a while they were all 30 to 33. The next time I started the car the tire pressure alert did not come on. 4951

I've had that issue, but it's usually in colder temps, like 30s-40s. By the time I got out this morning it had warmed a bit. 4951

@SwaggyG:  Tire pressure is indeed related to temperature; however, a 7-8 psi drop seems excessive for the temperatures we're seeing.I think @ET and @terilyntx experiences are more in line with our colder weather.  I would not add air until I drove around for a while and heated up the tires/air.  Then add air to bring it up to recommended pressures.  If you add air with everything cold, the air pressure may go over recommended pressures when the tires/air heat up.

When I get that warning icon, I swing by NTB on the BW near Wilson and they do a quick check at no charge. Last time it happened, they guy said they had a lot of drop ins with the same issue (cold rainy morning). All tires checked out fine and it WAS just weather-related. That extra service is why we go there for all of our tire-related business. 4951

This cold weather is a real nuisance. Is it almost summer again?

@SwaggyG:

Yeah, way to much winter in Houston for my liking. 4951

@ET:  Noooo!  Not full summer!  Days in the 70s and nights in the 60s would be great!

That's good too but I have a pool so it needs another 10 degrees. 4951
