So with the announcement yesterday of Carrier staying in the USA kind of ironic that I got an email from them 30 mins later that starting Jan 1 prices are going up 5 percent across the board. I have never seen anything higher than 3 percent in the last 20 years. IMHO Its a good product so it's worth it but the consumer is definately going to feel it when their AC goes out next summer.
@SwaggyG:
Consumers will still have other brand options if they prefer to pay less for other brands. Isn't that the same "dilemma" we deal with on every consumer product?
Currently, China, Mexico, India and a few others have products produced in their nation that have earned the "cheap" label. "Made in Mexico" and "Made in China" typically signals you're going to pay less for a lower quality product. Is that really what we want to compete with? Why not be proud of products that make "Made in the USA" stand for quality? There is a significant consumer group that is willing to pay a higher price for quality.
