This is in addition to the league's anti cop, anti soldier, anti America stance.Half time of the game between the Vikings and Lions is some ripped, skinny jean wearing guy singing a love song while teenage girls jump around and grope him.  He has one of those over groomed stubble beards.  The song is half ballad, half rap. 4951

I guess people don't want to hear how awful America is and how everyone is a racist. I don't care to hear all that crap when I am trying to watch a football game, I like watching sports to get away from all of that but if I did want to hear how racist white people are and how awful my country was i would watch CNN or MSNBC. 4951

People would probably put up with all of that if you actually got to watch the game.  There are so many commercial breaks I forget what the heck I am watching and drift off o another channel.  When I remember to switch back, I have missed the 32 seconds of actual game play and find myself in the middle of an official's time out and 5 more commercials. 4951

Try to keep up with NBA.  Last week their top stores were Phil Jackson is a racist for saying Lebron has a posse and wealthy, white coaches spoke up against Trump.:Lebron told people to "look up the definition" of posse.  I looked it up.  Not sure what he's up in arms about other than he was deflecting Phil's main point that Lebron is a selfish jerk.  Lebron didn't want to answer that, so he pulled the race card.According to the article about the NBA coaches, white people in the NBA aren't "afraid of people who look different than them" because those white people in the NBA spend time around black people. 4951

They are losing audience for a number of reasons and NOT just because one. Me thinks the primary reason is overexposure. Games on Thursday, 3 on Sunday afternoon and 1 Sunday night, 1 on Monday...and they haven't even started Saturday games yet.

Another: too many bad teams...really bad teams. Add all the political crap and you have a recipe of disaster.

When a baseball player called rioters animals, he was suspended and called "beyond racist".  When NFL players attacked cops as racist monsters, the NFL said "they have free speech".  The same reporters who called the baseball player "beyond racist" and said athletes have no place making political comments, said the kneelers are brave social warriors.  These same reporters said, re: the kneelers, athletes have a responsibility to speak out on social and political issues.NFL also has a problem with the perception that the league is losing it's toughness.  Skinny jeaned love singers at half time shows don't help with that image. 4951

They are NOT tired of football. Teams are selling out every game...even the Browns. They are losing viewers.

The ticket holders/buyers have all the power in this game. If they are tired of it, stop paying the $200+ per ticket and buying the $79+ jersey.

Won't happen.......EVER!!!!!!

I think they are more concerned with the viewing audience. TV dollars generate significant revenue. Unless you're the Browns, then it's both. 4951

@CC1974:

Absolutely! When Colin K of the 49ers decided he wasn't getting the attention he wanted, he decided to take a knee. A lot of the fans are in the service or have been. Also police officers didn't deserve all this disrespect from these athletes talented and non talented. How did the NFL think fans would react? We can just turn them off and not go to the games to show our disrespect to them. Shame on the NFL for letting this get this far. 4951

The Kaepernick thing is significant.  J.J. Watt being out for the year has lessened my interest. The other part is the increasing evidence of CTE - almost all retired players who have had autopsies performed on them have turned out having CTE.  It's a violent, dangerous sport.  The sheer number of concussions in football is much higher than baseball, basketball, hockey, or any other sport, except for maybe boxing or MMA.  Plus there's Roger Goodell, the commissioner, who is a joke.  He won't let a player have different shoes to honor their mother with cancer but he lets Kaepernick disrespect the flag and anthem constantly.  He goes after Tom Brady with full force but lets others do whatever.  It's frustrating and I admittedly have watched fewer games this year due to all of the above reasons.  There's more to life than watching football games. 4951

I don't buy the political reasons, I think the NFL is losing viewers because the games are not compelling.  There are less stars, 5 mins of reviews to sit through after half the passing plays, endless commercials, and too many mediocre teams that just aren't fun to watch.  4951

Because all the players now want to be Political Activist and people are tired of watching spoiled millionaires tell them what to think instead of playing with the BALL. I wonder if they know an Activist Salary cannot even buy one week groceries at a Fiesta Market. Oh well it must be all of those blows to the head Emoticon 4951

It's basically like watching no names on the practice squads lately. Very few actual stars and plug & play systems. 4951
