hubby & I have all our xmas shopping finished & I only have 2 more gifts to wrap . Today I will start addressing xmas cards & getting them ready to mail in Dec. I promised myself I would get everything done early this year to take all the stress out of our holidays. We will be putting up the out door decorations the day after Thanksgiving & then on the following day our tree will go up . So far everything is going smooth & as planned . Wednesday I will be doing all my baking for Thanksgiving & Thursday morning I will make the salads . Then around 11 am we will pack everything up & head for Indiana to share Thanksgiving with our families .This will be the 1st year in 50 years that I have not had Thanksgiving at our home , our grand-daughter wanted to have it at her home out in the country , so Christmas will be at our home as usual . 4951

Wrapped a few gifts yesterday. Will do some today. Tree is up. Having thanksgiving here. Will shop on Monday for turkey, etc. I'm hoping everyone shops this weekend. I hate grocery shopping especially with crowds. 4951

Nooooo! I don't even want to think about Christmas right now. This year has gone by too fast! I'll get it together, like I always do, and see how much I can get done in the last 2 weeks before Christmas. 4951

I don't have little ones and we have never been all out for Christmas-so we just fly by the seat of our pants- and let come what may. After years and years of stress of making it perfect I am retired. It all gets done and as I have learned repeatedly this year - each holiday is just another day- stuff happens and you got to go with the flow.

Hubs is in GER for Tday- celebration goes on as normal. Christmas is always about family ( though family is loosely defined) hanging out. 4951

Hell Yes!! I'm super stoked. I cant wait to start cooking turkeys and hanging Christmas lights on the house. I'm really excited to take the kids to see Santa and to go pick out our Christmas tree. Having little kids is really amazing. It has totally renewed the magic of the holidays for me. I'm like Clark Griswold over here.I'm also looking forward to breaking out the eggnog and white russians while watching all the traditional Christmas movies with my wife. 4951

@ZMAN: yep the kids are the magic!! I remember those days. It's fun with adult kids too- different traditions get started 😜

We don't "do" Christmas...or at least the commercial part of it. We go to church and have a nice meal, but that's about it. Thanksgiving is our big family holiday, and it has me tied up in knots! Around 30-35 people coming here and I'm not ready! Well, not as ready as I'd like to be. I need about six more of me to get everything done. 4951

I dread the Holidays I am getting to were I would rather spend holidays with just myself and my wife,I love all my family members but  I would rather visit them separately  throughout  the year when the whole family is together it is always chaos. 4951

Hah yes, I feel the same way as several of you in regards to not wanting to leave the house on thanksgiving and Christmas.
Zman is right having young kids really does make the holidays way more exciting. My daughter is 12 and I couldn't wait to give her everything that I bought her for Christmas. She was so excited it was worth it. She will have plenty of gifts from other people when Christmas actually gets here lol. 4951
