To my community,Yesterday, my 14 year old son spent the day at Texas Children's Hospital having emergency surgery.  He is now home and resting, but something really sweet happened while he was there and it's thanks to his friends and neighbors.Since he couldn't go trick or treating, a group of his friends (and separately, a group of his sister's friends along with his sister), went trick or treating for him by taking an extra bag and politely asking for extra candy for their friend in the hospital.  Of all the houses they went to, only one was a jerk and told them they were lying.  They surprised him this morning with a large bag of candy which he isn't really up to eating yet, but it did a lot to brighten his day and I am so very very grateful for that.So thank you to everyone who believed these great kiddos and took them at their word.  It helped a very stressed and hurting young boy feel the extra love his friends have for him.Sincerely,Lisa 4951

All moms hope their kids have friends as great as your son's friends. I am sure your son had a crappy day yesterday having surgery, but hope today he is feeling better and things are looking brighter! Kuddos to those who gave the extra candy also! 4951

What a nice story. I atill remember missing the Valentines day party in 1st grade due to being in the hospital. A friend delivered my cards and some allowable goodies. I still remember how special that made me feel in a crummy situation.

Best wishes to your son for a speedy recovery. 4951

Hope he gets to feeling better soon. That was really sweet of his friends, unless they picked out all of the Reese's cups lol. 4951

@CantStandTex: When I read that, the first person to come to mind was you. Glad to see you didn't disappoint.

Happy to see that not only are his friends great kids, but that at least the neighborhood they went to (God Forbid if they don't live there), was handing out candy.   4951
