Am I the only one who thinks you should trick or treat in your own neighborhood? Is it really a thing to go to "better" neighborhoods for free candy? We never did this where I grew up... 4951

@allymansfield: Yes and kids are driven in from out of town! Selective little mooches.

We only went to nicer neighborhoods for better candy when we were probably too old to trick or treat, but... we couldn't get up to no good in our neighborhood - everyone knew us. 4951

@allymansfield: In the late 50s & early 60s, when I was trick or treating, we always went to better neighborhoods. Of course my brother & I walked the 2-3 miles to get to that neighborhood & it was a much safer time for young kids to be out. I loved getting the nickle candy bars, homemade cookies or candies, popcorn balls, toy treats. It was absolutely fun & the people in that rich neighborhood knew that there were not so rich kids among the rich kids trick or treating. In a way, it set the tone for my attitude towards giving out treats as an adult. It was fun times & a totally different era - can't give out homemade goodies now-a-days.

I always went in my own neighborhood and only to houses we knew. We didn't get full size candy bars, but I was always happy. 4951

Depends. Sometimes people live on acreage or they are going with friends. I dont mind that. I do wish they would park their dang cars and walk though. That part bugs the living crap out of me....lol

@allymansfield: most everyone here lives in a nice or "better" neighborhood, so you aren't alone with this first world issue.

I hate this. Right now a fire truck or ambulance could not possibly get down Trailwood Village drive south of Hidden Creek.
This is beyond absurd.

I'm sure some kids live where it might be harder to trick or treat. Maybe they are in apartments where they don't give out much candy or their own neighborhood isn't safe.  I don't  really mind at all as long as they are respectful.  It is a magical part of childhood that has changed a lot since my kids were small so I suppose I'm a little nostalgic about it. I also lived in one of the "not so good neighborhoods"  when I was a child. We didn't really have a nice neighborhood anywhere near us, everyone was in the same boat as us, lol. But every once in a while there was a generous neighbor giving popcorn balls or even dimes. I can still remember the excitement. 4951

We had a good bit of kids trucked in towards the end of the evening.  I don't really have a problem with that.  What I do have a problem with are the adults driving those kids in my neighborhood and blazing through the neighborhood street.  There are kids out trick or treating.  There is NO NEED to go fast in the neighborhood.  Yes, I am that ***** that comes to your car and tell you to slow the hell down.  Happy Halloween.  4951

In South Texas the nice neighborhood for us was the winter texans trailer park . Alot of home made fudge and popcorn balls . But the thing that would kill me is they gave us the oranges that grew on all the trees in that park . I had a paper route through there and would pick oranges all the time . What a jip ! 4951
