These days, Ive been using and old set of computer speakers (with a small subwoofer) and a $10 Bluetooth receiver dongle. Its not as portable, but works great for backyard hangouts and sounds so much better than my little portable Bluetooth speaker. For portability I think this one is probably comparable to the jawbone and a hell of a lot cheaper.https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker-Black/dp/B00EHZYWGM 4951

@ZMAN: Pretend for a minute that I am totally and completely technologically inept. Just pretend…. How does this work? You buy this little dongle and plug your old computer speakers into it? Coincidentally, I’m really just looking for a way to play Spotify in my backyard. I have some old computer speakers (with a subwoofer) just collecting dust in my closet, so your setup sounds perfect.

I have an Amazon Echo, good sound for the price, plus does loads more than just a bluetooth speaker will, I tell it what music to play, use it as a timer in the kitchen, get it to tell me corny jokes, etc etc. You can still connect phone via bluetooth if you have the device somewhere where WiFi is not available. They just recently released a portable one, so you can charge it and take it with you. 4951

@imadrummer2k: LOL, Sure thing. All you do is plug in the dongle via a usb wall charger and the computer speakers to a wall outlet for power. Then plug the 3.5mm (headphone style chord) chord coming off of the computer speakers into the dongle. Connect to it with your phone or tablet the same way you do anything other Bluetooth device. Here is a link to one that I bought, works like a charm. Like I said the portability suffers a bit because you need a power outlet, but if its for the backyard I think its a great solution. Let me know if you have any more questions.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015MFBZF6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&ampEmoticonsc=1Loading Image...

I have a JBL and love it. I want to say it was around $150, but that was a couple of years ago. 4951

Happy with the Bose. Seem to remember it was a buck and a quarter at Best Buy. 4951
