This is our recent quiz.  I'm not looking for the answers more so helpi finding them.  My professor unfortunately is of NO help.  He gives us our quizzes and exams and says ok turn it all in before the final.  Thats itEmoticon01. At the March equinox, the length of DARKNESS varies from 0 hours at the Equator to 24 hours at the North Pole12 hours at the Equator to 24 hours at the North Pole12 hours at the Equator to 0 hours at the North Pole12 hours at the Equator to 12 hours at the North Pole  02. If the axial tilt of the Earth were 75 degrees, where would the vertical ray of the Sun be on September 21/22? 75 degrees S75 degrees N15 degrees S0 degrees N/S  03. It is NOON. What is the Sun angle and direction for an observer at 25 degrees N on April 20th (declination 11 degrees N)? 76 degrees above his southern horizon36 degrees above his southern horizon14 degrees above his northern horizon34 degrees above his northern horizon  04. On a weather station model, a notation representing the cloud type present would be placed at Point APoint BPoint CPoint D    05. Solar panels on a solar home built NORTH of the Equator in the Western Hemisphere should face northsoutheastwest  06. The Earth is CLOSEST to the Sun during which SEASON in the Northern Hemisphere? summerfallwinterspring  07.
The Sun will appear on the horizon and the vertical ray will appear to
be moving toward the South Pole on which of the following dates? June 21September 21/22December 21March 21  08.
When the vertical ray of the Sun is moving from the Equator TOWARD the
Tropic of Cancer, what is the season in the Northern Hemisphere? summerfallwinterspring  09.
When the vertical ray of the Sun is moving from the Tropic of Cancer
TOWARD the Equator, what is the season in the Southern Hemisphere? summerfallwinterspring  10. Which of the diagrams represents the date that represents the first day of Northern Hemisphere winter? You are located at 28 degrees N. How many times will the vertical ray
of the Sun be over your head between May 5 and April 12? oncetwicenevercan not tell from the information given  15. You are located at the North Pole. The date is March 21. How long before you will see the Sun? you can see it on March 213 months6 monthscan not tell from the information given  16. At 15 degrees S, the Sun's rays at noon strike the Earth at the angle of 90 degrees above the horizon TWICE a year. TrueFalse  18. At any given location, the SHORTEST day of the year is the summer equinox. TrueFalse  19. In the diagram, solar noon is being experienced at Point B. TrueFalse    20. I haven't dropped a class in my years of college and really don't want to start now.  There are so many emails going on between the students trying to get help.  And our professor aide just got moved to a different class. 4951

@Andreweggplant: Yeah, these are pretty readily found with some discussion from various sources.  For a lot of this, a good picture of the earth/sun system in various points of its orbit is priceless.  Also, a working knowledge of earth's tilt and what significance this has at key points of its orbit will help a lot.  A couple of easy formulas will help with a couple of these problems too.  If you'd like I can help back channel with any or all of these if you'd like.

@donnatella: Wait, where's the back pay?   I'm getting tired of sitting here crunching pharmacokinetic data anyhow.  Conceptually sometimes, it's hard for people to get the picture needed to solve these types of problems.  A lot of this is simply understanding what parameters are in place at the equinoxes or solstices.  Depends on how much time you want to spend on it.

@analogkid: None. That's why my degree is in business and marketing, and why I watch the meterorologist on TV.
