Have we become so politically correct that we have readily given up the 1st Ammendment?

If we start calling the words people use as crimes, what is going to happen to our country?

the U.S. Supreme Court has afforded dissident political speech unparalleled constitutional protection. However, all speech is not equal under the First Amendment. The high court has identified five areas of expression that the government may legitimately restrict under certain circumstances. These areas are speech that incites illegal activity and subversive speech, fighting words, Obscenity and Pornography, commercial speech, and symbolic expression.

It is the supreme courts role to determine if what is said is protected legally under the first amendment. It is our roles as Americans to determine if what was said is acceptable for the person that is going to run the country.If what someone says, that gives clear and precise insight into the kind of thinking that person has, is okay with you, acceptable or agreeable, then apparently there is no issue. It is not political correctness to dislike what someone says. 4951

@CC1974: Who is calling it a crime?
The 1st Amendment doesn't protect you from public backlash if you say something stupid.  4951

It seems that even with free speech, some are free-er than others.Just because I disagree with what you say does not mean I have to listen to you. 4951

@thegoodwife: Would have to disagree with you on this one. Looks like 2 people with different ways of thinking able to come together and accomplish a marriage. Unless you're saying republicans need to marry republicans and democrats need to marry democrats? That sounds awfully like an age old attitude concerning other issues.

@imadrummer2k:
Trump's comments are being called a crime, "sexual assault," by some.

That's a good starting point. BiPartisan rearing of children could leave them as jacked up as D.C. Is. 4951

@CantStandTex: I'm not saying any such thing.  I just never knew anything about Ryan's personal life & just put it out there.

Are we headed in the direction of the movie. "Minority Report," where people can be arrested for Precrimes? If people think you may commit a crime then you can be arrested.

I know it sounds far out, but just look at our universities where students are given safe spaces so they don't hear something that may offend them. In fact if you offend someone then you are labeled and may even lose your job. 4951

@thegoodwife: Please use all caps and add some exclamation points next time......In all fairness, neither did I. I only saw the correlation I made. Perhaps my jealousy for your escape makes me ill tempered.
