Can someone explain this clown thing to me? People are dressing up like scary clowns and scaring people? And that's a crime? Obnoxious no doubt, but surely not criminal. A good way to get kicked in the balls, absolutely, but not illegal. Are said clowns actually hurting people or otherwise committing illegal acts? I heard a few stories of that, but is that all of them? Threats against schools are criminal, I know that; but hiding in alleyways or behind trees is just douchy at best. Am I missing something here? Is this really an epidemic like they are making it out to be? And people saying they will shoot the clowns? For what? A little over reaction/grandstanding, no? 4951

This is an excerpt from the Rolling Stone article I posted a few days ago.

"Yet despite the recent arrests – and despite some state laws banning anyone over the age of 16 from wearing a mask or hood with the intent of intimidation or harassment – a solution to the phantom clown resurgence remains unknown. But more than stopping the phenomena, officials are concerned with the terrified people who may have a conceal-carry permit for a gun, or for vigilantes actively seeking to end the clown problem on their own." 4951

gotta love RS, the overy left magazine that barely covers worthwhile music anymore.  now that i think about it tho, dressing like a clown around here, even at halloween, seems like an easy way to get shot. anyone for a drinking movie game?

@mdizzle: I wasn't saying I agree with it. And if "they" are expressing concern over the reactions of a CHL holder in an emotionally charged situation, based on irrational fears, then you really have to wonder where this clown stuff originated. Is this just an elaborate gun control scheme? 4951

All I know is I think it would be fun to punch a clown right in the face.  I have never liked them or thought they were funny.  I have never had a fear of them, but think the whole concept is just stupid.  Of course, I feel the same way about mimes.  I guess I just don't espouse whimsical theatrics.  Not my thing.  So if there is ever a mime troupe in Kingwood, please don't come up to me and try to get me to participate.  I've got a sneaky fast right cross.  4951

I agree, the whole thing is dumb. Sure there have been a few that have been busted for illegal activity. But is seems like those were isolated incidents. Clowns don't scare me nearly as much as trigger happy neighbors. While the whole thing is no doubt stupid, I say clown around if that's what floats your boat. 4951
