You probably need to be a foster parent first. Contact them and they can probably give you a lot more info and legal advice than this board can. That's very loving of you. Remember most kids will have problems but they can work that out. Patience. Best of luck to you. 4951
Contact Child Protective Services. They always have older children for adoption since many prefer to adopt younger children. You can PM me if you have any questions. 4951
3 years ago my grand daughter & her hubby decided to foster a child , he was just a few weeks old & in the hospital . He had several medical problems , but they went ahead & fostered him , a year later they were told he was going up for adoption but because they had fostered him for a year they had 1st dibs on adopting him . Of course they loved him & jumped at the chance to make him legally theirs. It took another year for the adoption to become final . But because of all his medical problems the agency pays for all his medical bills for the rest of his life . He is now 3 years old & full of life , he has to be fed with a feeding tube & he is deaf , but they "talk" with him in American sign language & he attends St. Rita's school for the deaf . When they got him the doctors told them he would never walk , well he runs & plays & laughs with other kids his age . Doctors are not always correct . Talk to someone in the "foster parenting program" & you will learn more , they have classes you have to attend before you can foster , but it's all about learning if you are cut out to be a parent...Good Luck & God Bless. 4951
