What is your opinion re: Austin shuttle via private car like Uber?

1. Need?

2. Lucrative? Amt to charge?

3. Downers?

4. Etc. Any other ideas?

Thx!

Best answer gets a free round trip to Austin. 4951

I just fill up the car, pack a bag and go. Stop at Buc-ee's in Luling and finish the trip. Not much to analyze. 4951

@Andreweggplant: Texas City or Galveston is closer but not the same as a fun road trip. 4951

Hey I hit Bucees 3x today, 2x in Waller, once in Bastrop. Only coffee though.

I wouldn't pay for car service to Austin since we own cars and I'm frugal. My brother tries to convince me to put the kid on the bus to Houston, but that sounds miserable so I make the drive. 4951

@Andreweggplant: Not sure...never been. Luling is the best location, but that's just my opinion. Worth waiting for the next road trip. 4951

I was just trying to think of a career for a friend's son where he could work as a chauffeur. I was trying to figure out if more long distance driving would be more lucrative & preferable to short runs. 4951

@Zoey:  I am kind of on the same page with the others...when we go, there is always something(s) going or coming back with us.  It would sometimes be nice not to drive, but depending on where drop off point would be, would still have to get someone to come get us/take us back.  Might use it occasionally however. 4951

@Zoey:

Mostly need a car in Austin so you'd have to have a customer willing to not only drive our with you but keep you. If it is a one way you have to dead head home which is a loser. 4951

True.

Did you ever read the Reddit AMA by a cab driver ( white, for a change ) in NYC? It was pretty good, really cool guy. I wish I could read it again.
Anyway, he was so smart about planning the optimum times to drive for the most $ with the least risk, etc,
He really liked the long distance fares, like to Conn. & beyond. He'd have to dead head back but was cool with it cuz of the extra $. Of course a lot of things are so much more expensive there.

Too bad he doesn't want short runs. I would think airport shuttles would be pretty good money. 4951
