Mostly need a car in Austin so you'd have to have a customer willing to not only drive our with you but keep you. If it is a one way you have to dead head home which is a loser.

Did you ever read the Reddit AMA by a cab driver ( white, for a change ) in NYC? It was pretty good, really cool guy. I wish I could read it again.
Anyway, he was so smart about planning the optimum times to drive for the most $ with the least risk, etc,
He really liked the long distance fares, like to Conn. & beyond. He'd have to dead head back but was cool with it cuz of the extra $. Of course a lot of things are so much more expensive there.
