Just read that Blue Bell is recalling their cchocolate chip cookie dough and Two Step Ice Cream due to possible Listeria contamination...😳. One would think that had this corrected so it wouldn't happen again? 4951

News on Ch.13 said that it was from some chocolate chips bought from a supplier. Of course the blame will fall on BB, but there is no way I know of to test ahead of time if a batch of chocolate chips has a bacteria in it.  Oh well - BB will close down again. 4951

@gigem09: The media used the word MAY.  I would feed it to my husband and see if he gets sick - if not, then I would eat it!!!!!  bwahahahahahaActually, I would probably eat the ice cream. Listeria has been around for a very long time and if you are a healthy person, your body will compensate for it - not have a problem.  Back when BB had their first listeria problem - it was very ill people in the hospital and in nursing homes that had the reaction to listeria.  So, I would eat it. But, then again, I'm crazy & senile!!!NEWS JUST ADDED THIS TIDBIT --- none was sold in Texas!!!  So eat your ice cream and enjoy it!!!

I'm sure those chocolate chips weren't sold only to BB, so how are other companies dealing with it? 4951

@HollyHobby: Media most likely won't be telling us that.  So, which chocolate chips or chocolate dipped product will be on the market but not recalled.

Man, I don't know how Blue Bell does it. Their marketing people are geniuses. They're a huge company that puts the bottom line before all else - including employee and public safety - just like every other huge company...yet they avoid all public scrutiny even when their product kills a few people because of the public perception that they're just a bunch of old ladies with aprons churning butter out in the cow pasture. Marketing genius I tell you! Me, I'll never look at Blue Bell the same after reading this article last year:http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Inside-Blue-Bell-Grime-and-discontent-6499325.php  4951

@sweetie: He has a castiron stomach!!!! Seems NOTHING upsets him.  But, I'm sure he would love to 'test' your CCCD ice cream - he may have to keep sampling until it's all gone!!!

Do you think other companies don't do this?  They do and they are either good at hiding it or they just haven't been caught yet.  No, not all companies, but I can assure you this happens.  Maybe check out OSHA incident reports for various industries, possibly news articles for industry publications. But this happens, not just to Blue Bell & not just to the ice cream industry.   4951
