Hey ya'll, how widely known is this craft fair that we are having in Kingwood this weekend?  Personally, I didn't know about it, I only found out because another KDC member asked me about it on my (business) Facebook page when I posted some new fall and halloween dog collars.  It's not a huge booth cost to go, but I am not sure if it is worth while due to the fact that I had no idea about it.  Am I just out of the loop?  Anyone planning on going?  Anyone here planning on being a vendor?https://www.kingwood.com/events/event_details.php?event_id=4603&event_date_id=18944 4951

My mom and I took dd one year since it was cooler out and it was a cluster.  The kid attractions(except the face painter) hadn't shown.  It was late/early afternoon so I was hoping most of the booths would have been set up.Things may have changed though.  I really do think that more advertising and promotions of these fairs need to happen. 4951

@RogueHippEE: I agree!  As a potential vendor, I had no idea.  I find that many events in Kingwood are hard to find out about, I usually see them at the last minute or as I am driving by!  It's only $35 for a booth, which isn't bad, but I don't know if it is worth my time to lug all my stuff out there and set up just to be with a bunch of Sentsy and diet shake vendors.  It says its a craft fair, but a lot of times (in my experience) that means garage sale crap.  Growing up in Long Island we had a huge craft show every fall and it was insane, there was a wait list for vendors and people would come in from Manhattan just to shop!  It shut down the town for the weekend with traffic but it was great.  Everyone looked forward to it every year.  I wish we had something like that here.  Maybe I'll look into planning one like that...

@allymansfield: The towns around us are like that.  A couple of the fairs are so big, the kids get out of school for the day.  They start in September and go through July.  I know you have the two kids now, but have you looked into places like Cold Spring around you?  It's about an hour drive but I have heard they used to have a good fall and Christmas Fair.  I know Huntsville used to have them also.If you do the Kingwood Fair, try to get next to the dog rescues.  They get the most foot traffic.  I helped a friend out one year who selling selling crafts and she was busy from start to finish because of her location next to the rescue group.

I saw a vendor diagram and asked if they were all filled but did not get a response.   it was set up for what looked like for around 100 vendors and supposedly all but 6  slots were filled late last week.  I hope it is better than the last few events they have had. 4951

I have enjoyed going in the past, but my favorite was the Art Show, which no longer happens.  They really should pass the word better to get more traffic. 4951

Alright, I bit the bullet and bought a spot for Saturday. Hopefully we have good weather and good turnout. I am not going to bring my entire inventory, it's just too much, but I am going to give it a go. So come visit me!! 4951

@allymansfieldI can't remember the actual name of the show, but it had all kinds of paintings, quilts, and such. I think it was discontinued due to lack of buying traffic.  Beautiful things that I could not afford at the time. At least 10 years ago, I think.  It reminded me of the kinds of fairs my Dad used to take his pottery to in the 70's and 80's. Juried shows, no "store-bought" items allowed. I think they call them "artisan" fairs now.  4951

They used to have a juried Kingwood Art Show evey year around the first weekend of October or so. I bought a painting for my living room at one if the last ones they had.  Things were pretty expensive.I have this weeks Market goes well and it is not a bunch of useless items (Aly is exempted because her collars etc are great)...  The vendors at 4th of July and last December at Christmas in the Park left a lot to be desired.
