@richard2003:

Did it come up fast? I thought it might be fungus in our yard because I didnt see the moths, but I went to Kingwood garden center today and the guy said it was most likely sod web worms even though I dont see the moths. He told me how to check and sure enough when I pulled up a clump right at the brown edge I found a bunch of little green caterpillars. We treated the whole lawn today. Get on it quick otherwise it will be your whole front lawn ny next weekend. 4951

If there are no no moths, just as likely to be cinch bugs or grubs. Grab a hunk of the brown, if it comes up in a hunk with little or not connected roots, look in the dirt for the curly white worm looking thing about an inch long. Too early for brown patch. You must have night time temperatures below 70s - but that is around the corner. Oh, its dormant all right, as in dead, but it will recover if you get after it immediately. 4951

Usually if you apply a mix of soapy water to a small area and wait a few minutes you will see the web worms emerge it they are there. The small white moths are the worms that transformed into moths. You usually need to treat for moths as well as the worms to get the entire life cycle but as others have said they don't seem to die overnight and  your neighbor's lawn can reinfect yours. 4951

Tree Lane all the way to Woodland Hills looks like someone took a flamethrower to the yards.  Those pretty older established lawns have been chewed down to the roots....cinch bugs eat from the ground up.  Time to treat mine again...neighbors yards being eaten now. 4951

I have lots of web worms in my yard. We used bug b gone twice and it didn't work. So we went to lowes tonight and got the Bayer brand stuff. Everything was almost sold out. He said tons of people have been in Lowes buying all the web worm killing stuff. He said it is very bad this year. Stupid worms!!! 4951
