I just got back from seeing this movie - wow, just wow....Great acting - even better cinematography and special effects - I stayed quite emotional throughout a lot of it and even cried several times.....don't know why other than it is a very powerful, emotional and human portrayal of all involved. It is an amazing piece of history, exemplifying professionals who are good at what they do, and do it for the right reason and have character and integrity and love for human kind.  It was like a miracle happened that day and a that higher power was guiding Sullenberger's mind and heart and hands....wow....I've never been much of a flyer, but I'll never fly again....... 4951

No, you just want to book a flight with Sully in the cockpit!

We saw it today too and gave it enthusiastic thumbs up. I too had a few tears but not a boohoo movie. Very powerful and I am thankful for pilots with his skill level.

A must see in my book. 4951

Great flick. I will continue to fly whenever I can. It is far safer than Houston or Kingwood roads for that matter. 4951

Flying is still safer than driving.  I did a lot of flying when we first moved here.  I now would only fly in an emergency..... not because of the fear of crashing but because of those ***hole TSA people.  Yes, they are doing an important job, but they don't have to be ***** about it. 4951

I've yet to see the movie, but I strongly suspect that he did what any one of our local senior pilots from the old Continental days would have done.  @Bongo52 can correct me if I'm wrong, but these sorts of things are drilled into you from day one of flight school and are simulated time and time and time again throughout your career.  Using the Hudson was creative for sure, but it provided a soft, clean, and straight path with limited obstructions.Full disclosure...I never flew commercial or fixed wing.  Spent my right seat time as a chopper pilot with Uncle Sam.  From the first day we pulled pitch the Instructor Pilot was randomly killing the engine at various altitudes and scenarios until pretty much any emergency was so ingrained in what we were doing that the reaction become second nature.  With enough altitude you can sort of relax a bit because you have time.  Every single moment you're less than 300-400 feet off the ground you're looking for your next place to land in case of an emergency.  It becomes as natural as you watching another vehicle approach on a side street as you're driving.  You just sort of "know" it's there and you're ready to deal with it.All that being said, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie! As always, just my 2 cents.  YMMV. 4951

I saw it today. Very well done. I think Mr. Eastwood can be a very good director, nice to see him still turning out good movies as he is 80 or so I think. That being said, there were those scenes in the movie of that plane flying by the buildings and bridges and towards the river and a part of me wanted to believe if only those pilots on the ill fated 9/11 jets could have done something to overpower their hijackers that whole event might have ended off very differently. Crazy but I did think about it as today is the 12th. I think this was why the release date was Friday the 9th. What with the 15th anniversary of 9/11 perhaps we all need to be reminded that sometimes good things can and do happen. Just my 2 cents worth. 4951

After watching many newscasts reliving the events of 9/11 these past several days, I am overwhelmed by the courage and the totally unselfish reasoning of the passengers that managed to overtake the hijackers on the ill-fated plane that was headed to the Capitol Building, and instead their brave actions caused it to crash in the field in Shanksville thereby eliminating any more damage to innocents - they did all this knowing the result would be their own destruction.....bravery beyond comparison 4951
