We have been hearing weird noises on the roof at night. Almost like nails on a chalkboard. Last night we heard it and my DH looked out the window and there was the neighbors cat staring at him on the roof. It scares the crap out of my kid because she thinks something is trying to get in and it's usually right outside her window when she's sleeping. This happens all night long. We have the 2nd floor roof, garage is separate and small roof off the second floor over the front porch. It walks all over all of it.I went to the neighbor last night to come get their cat off the roof just after 9 because it wouldn't get down. He wouldn't open the door, told me that the cat knows how to get down and he has the neighbors cat on his roof all the time. I told him it is scaring my DD. He said there is nothing he can do about it. I asked if he had any idea how I could keep his cat off my roof and he said no. If it gets up, eventually it will come down. I told him I also have a fairly big dog if it goes in my backyard and he said it's fine we have 2.What can I do about this? This is an outside cat that just wonders the neighborhood all day. Lays on my porch because we have a concrete slab with a slanted roof over it across the front of the house and drives my pets crazy because it's laying out there when they look out the window. Besides shooting it (I don't want to hurt it) what can I do. TIA for any help.
@dotti573: Spray it with water. I would say throw rocks at it, but you might break your own window. Usually spraying with a water bottle or water hose will get them down, and if you bother then enough, they will avoid your house.
