I have an old SS not plated teapot that I have been meaning for years to have professionally done. I'm bored today and I have Internet access. Anyone ever have luck with the baking soda/boiling water/aluminum foil method? I know it works for a light tarnish, this is more than a little. 4951

I have a plated one that's pretty tarnished, maybe I should try it and see if it works, it's not an heirloom, it's off ebay. 4951

@BooBear: If the teapot has any ornamental features the baking soda method will take away the patina (dark areas) where it should be.  I have used this method and it does work but when you are done you have to go over it with a light polish.  If the piece has areas that should remain dark do not do it!  It will take forever to get that patina back.

Any liquid silver polish will get in the crevices and remove the patina where you may want it to stay. 4951
