>> Can you provide a link about this DNA test at that price?
@Retired_Engineer:
www.familytreedna.co m/The summer sale ends after tomorrow. The Family Finder test is the basic one and a good place to start. They send you a kit, you do the swabs in your mouth and return the kit in the postage paid envelope and in 6 weeks or so you are notified that the results are in. The test will show matches with others who either did the test with this lab or elsewhere and uploaded to this lab's site (like Ancestry.com) It will show most probably origins and some other things. I already had a good family tree with sources so the origins just reaffirmed it but I found some cousins I had no idea of, they were children of cousins who were put up for adoption and were doing research on their backgrounds. They have some of their other tests bundled with the FF test if you want to do more testing but that's optional. Also once they have your DNA you can do additional tests later without having to submit a new sample.
@Chrisinkingwood: Thanks! While doing Genealogy research, I've met several distant cousins (over the internet) and traded information. I also found out that I worked with one of my second cousins back in Louisiana that I had no idea we were related at the time. He even said he remembers visiting our home when I was pretty young. Some of my cousins on my mothers side claim that our GGF was an Indian Chief. I have found nothing to substantiate that, so maybe this test with give us some clarification.
