I've heard about it before. I don't know much about acupuncture except my friend has it done and she swears by it. 4951

Yes.  I obviously don't know your dog's situation but my daughter's dog was dragging back legs and now she runs around. Have also seen it work on 2 others. Call Dr Knapp at Veterans Memorial Animal Hospital.  281 440 4441. 4951

Also - kennel rest, kennel rest and more kennel rest. Check out the website http://dodgerslist.boards.net/it is a great resource for IVDD (ruptured discs).@CantStandTex - don't knock it till your dog is the one who has "drunken sailor butt" and can't walk. If you cannot afford an MRI and surgery which runs between $3000 and $5000 depending on severity a few rounds of acupuncture helps and is an 1/8th of the cost.  4951

@Kraz2014: Take my joke as it was intended or don't. Offense was not intended. I have had dogs, I have lost dogs. I hope the best for your pet.

@Cantstandtex - I can take a joke but when someone is asking for help for a living breathing thing - sarcasm isn't very helpful. For someone who has lost a dog - you aren't showing much empathy for their situation.  So maybe - just maybe- you should eat some crow and take a step back. It is not a great time to insert useless commentary. On any other thread, I would gladly laugh at your ridiculous comments or roll my eyes, but they aren't asking for money, they aren't asking for you to take the dog the dog's name isn't BigTex (therefore you should not have a stupid reason not to like the dog) - they would like opinions from people who actually have experience with IVDD and treatments for such a debilitating diagnosis. So no, I do not take your joke. It was not funny. It was offensive. It was not helpful. I appreciate your sentiments to my dog. He is doing much better.  4951

Krazz2014, Cantstandtex didn't mean any harm. He was being light hearted. Not everyone has heard of this. I'm glad it worked for your doggie. I don't know why vet bills are so high. We all love our pets, we want to save them. But geez $3,000 for an MRI is a little ridiculous. Hope your doggie is fine and remains healthy. I would try acupuncture for mine if she needed it. 4951

@SweetieI am well aware he "meant" no harm. I didn't mean to run over the squirrel, but it doesn't take it back. I appreciate levity - check my previous posts. I typically do NOT butt into situations, but this isn't really very funny for someone who is experiencing it. And yes, MRI's are expensive, we usually have insurance to cover part of the cost as a human. You have to sedate a dog (typically under anesthesia) which makes the procedure not only expensive but, depending on the health of the dog, - dangerous. So yes, I directed the OP to a forum where he/she will receive guidance and support without the extra commentary from the peanut gallery. 4951

@sweetie: Thanks for the defense. But unnecessary. I make no apologies. I made no comment that would indicate that I disliked either dog or owner. I attempted to inject levity, I also reserve the right to roll my eyes at acupuncture, essential oils, crystals and 50% of all dog videos or pictures. I only make attempts at sensitivity on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
