@donnatella: Why not?  Hollywood screwed up remakes of Red Dawn and Point Break, and will surely screw up my favorite 80's classic, Roadhouse.

@donnatella:  My son loves movies and some of the new TV programs, so he hates it when I say that "Hollywood is brain-dead".  @elguapo:  Remaking some movies that require extensive CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) can actually improve the movie.  Most remakes don't need extensive CGI, so it's just laziness and lack of imagination to remake them.  I also think many modern popular actors just don't put any effort into their roles.  There are some that do, but even experienced actors can start phoning it in. John Travolta is one of them.  I was browsing Amazon Prime and saw him in a movie named "Wrath".  I had never heard of it.  After sitting through this horrible movie, I know why I'd never heard of it.  It probably went direct to DVD.

@donnatellaI'm SO with you on this one, dude, and I even heard that they're leaving out like three key characters from the old school Cheers...Booty-licious-ness at best....   .....How about just bring back the original Cheers and air it during normal Prime Time watching hours....  I'd fo' sho' fo' sho' record and watch it, most happily!

Saw this last night on "the news", and it is suppose be a play, live, performed on stage. And they are only performing pieces from the first season. Now however, there are rumors about NetFlix remaking Happy Days. 4951

All these remakes are terrible. But the nail in the coffin to me, was when they tried to remake total recall. Nobody will ever top a Schwarznegger flick with a chick with three boobs, midgets shooting machine guns and Arnold in his prime.  4951

@Txbutterfly: and the older you get the younger they look....even the original mcgyver looks young to be mcgyver some days. most remakes are because the franchise made money and they want to go back to the well. there isnt anything artsy craftsy about it when you get to the business side of production, the costs preclude that

There's also a remake of blues brothers. Dan Akyroid will be in it but I don't know what kind of character he is in it. 4951

I do think that, especially with T.V shows that the show premise and writing doesn't have to be special, but the actors and the characters sometimes just click so well and the show goes where it's meant to go, the writers kind of evolve with the characters.  The premise of Cheers was nothing special, but the cast and their characters just worked so well together it made it so great.  I think that's hard to recreate and usually overlooked when something is remade.  4951

I don't think we need remakes of Rocky Horror Picture Show or Dirty Dancing either. Both of these films are being remade into tv movies. Some things are just better left alone.. 4951
