Their commercial starts off by addressing everyone with inactive SiriusXM radios. I didn't buy one but it came with my SUV and I only kept it to listen to Stern. That got old, and then I upgraded vehicles and now have HD radio, etc., plus I can listen to my audible novels while I drive. I just don't have a need for satellite radio and, I suspect, many others share my view and they are seeing a decline in sales. 4951

I like Sirius have had it since 05. I agree though, the market has changed since I signed up in 05. Too many options out there for free music and radio. I posted on here I bought a lifetime subscription in 05. They do not offer that deal anymore. I got an amazing deal on that one. I just signed up again for an new car and my wife loves it so stuck with that one. If not for both those situations I would not sign up. Great service but you have to love music more than the average person IMO. I did at one time but not that much anymore. 4951

I just downgraded mine. I have been tempted to cancel it for a while as I only listen to a couple stations. When I went to cancel I saw a much cheaper option that included the stations I like for $6/month so I switched to that. I don't listen to talk show or sports so I have no idea why I ever signed up for that many stations... 4951

They are all about haggling. You can ALWAYS talk them down. Never accept their first offer. Just tell them no and they will contact you a week later or even lower the price immediately. I have been dealing with them for 11 years. Anyone who pays their retail price is getting hosed. 4951

Have had xm since 01ish. I love it alot. We listen to it a lot. I use it when the Astros are playing and I'm in the car. I hardly ever listen to Spotify or Pandora when in the car as it takes to much data. 4951

I really like the Spectrum and XMU stations. Nothing else like it. Then the Blues and Blue Grass. It's fun when I'm cooking or doing something in the house. 4951

@donnatella:

We bought a new truck in March & we're nearing the end of our free period. Hubby loves the satellite radio, I do not! We mostly listen to the 60s station, but it seems they only play from a small list of 60s songs, same song several times a day. And, some of the songs I do not remember at all from my many years of listening to my era of music! I call them from the C or D side of the 45s. (For you young-uns, 45s had A & B sides).

And, the DJs do nothing but talk, talk, talk & take calls from people....I'm paying for music, not talk from chatty call-ins! Then, on the weekends they play reruns of the same irritating shows....Cousin Brucie is the most irritating! I holler at the radio ****!

Also, everytime you get stuck at a light under a bridge or if the weather is rainy, you lose the satellite radio until it finds a signal!

So, I usually end up listening to the same local FM music or AM talk shows, depending on my mood! Sooooo, hubby will probably keep it but I don't really care for it! I have enough music on my tablet that I could blue tooth my own selection of music! 4951

DH called and signed me up. He talked to them for about 45 minutes to get it all set.  After two weeks of waiting for it to activate, I called and asked what was going on. They said they had no record of his call.  That was a good 45 minutes down the drain!  I had it free for 18 months after I got my car but really didn't want to pay for radio anyway. I think I'll check out the free event just for kicks. 4951

I had it in the early days and loved it for my long commutes. Once my work commute got shorter I barely got to use it, so I cancelled it in 2014. I'm using the trial in my new car and I definitely missed it. Yes, there's free music out there, but I love the variety between the stations. I could pick out my own songs, but that's too predictable. I don't have unlimited data, so no Pandora or Iheartradio. 4951

@TexasOma: Thank you, I was starting to think I was the only one.  I have no idea what he is saying half the time.  I had to listen to him as a kid, I certainly don't have to listen to him now.

@beastmode: I've never had it but after seeing this post I took advantage of the "free" (that's almost as good as free health ins-lol) the past few days and like it a lot as I got to where I didn't listen to the radio much anymore in the car cause I do not like too many local stations (what happened to 101 KLOL and 97 Rocks? lol). I only listen to music and would like to have these stations in the car as I'm in sales and drive around most of the day.So I called-their best package (forget how many stations-a cpl hundred or so) is $19.99 a mth-told him I just wanted music and their lowest pkg of 80 music stations is $10 a mth-no deals from what he said-I even asked him if I paid upfront for a few years and he said it would be the 10 a mth plus fees and taxes which would be $175 a yr (almost as much fees and taxes as the mthly fee). I moved to Huffman earlier in the year and get NO stations (not even close) in my home stereo and asked about home service. That would be $175 as well with no deals if I get both and pay upfront ($350 a yr).Guess I'll wait (haven't checked online yet) and see if they call me back and want to deal some.Do they have any competition that would work/better pricing for just listening to music?

@donnatella: I have had my Sirius account since Howard Stern came on board. I really like it. I'm a music geek tho and there is a ton of music on there  Emoticon

Since I'm back to working remotely, I ended up cancelling ours. Well, as others said, they counter with such great deals that I ended up getting it for DH's car, since we take that car on road trips and end up in some places where we can't find a radio station to listen to. He seems to be liking it. 4951
