I would be torn between groceries and gasoline. I don't travel much and the vehicle would depreciate very quickly.

@podunk: That's free gas for 20 years. That's free groceries and travel for life. 4951

the groceries for life would be a better deal in the long run. unless you are older, you will live longer than the 20 years for gas and you will still be eating... 4951

Travel, I can consume a lot of that.  Car wears out, spend less and less on gas and food. 4951

Travel, I will make that add up to more than the rest, and I would be travelling for pleasure several times a month if I could.I would take groceries over gas from that choice, $300 a month would be equal to approximately $70 per week so unless I spend way more than that, and I do plan to live more than 20 years, I'm going with the groceries.  The car will be worth less than 10K in years time.   4951

My dh travels a lot, so most of our trips are free or close to it already. And some months, we can't go anywhere due to school schedules.

Groceries...  I don't travel much, the car would be a waste as I do not put many miles on one and I only buy gas  like every couple of months.  If I got the groceries, I rarely send $300 per month so I would use the entire amount and donate the food I am not going to eat to someone who has little... 4951
