So we have that funky box of fluorescent lights in the kitchen. We want to convert to cans, so do you all have any recommendations for someone to do this? Thanks for your help!! 4951
Feel your pain with those lights. It's an easy DIY project. Depending on your layout, you may or may not have to get in the attic. Cut some holes. Add wiring... Yep, I'd hire somebody too. Ask @DanStanton. He's cool and straight up.   4951
We did our own- took down the box- wiring was right there- put up track lighting so I could ave pendants over my cook area and accent spot lights that light the dark corners..The only thing was that the ceiling above the box was not stipples like the rest of the ceiling- and I didn't do a good job- so a mini project is to put up some ceiling tiles- maybe that copper fininish or brushed stainless 4951
We took ours out, and replaced with an LED light that was the same size. It's great. Had to put a dimmer on it as it was too bright. Replaced a 2 bulb 4 foot florescent fixture. 4951
UGH! I know that light box... Our's is HUGE!! I think it must have 8 tubes in it. I've hated it since we've moved into this house, but DH does not share my dislike and has no sense of "outdated!" He thinks "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I need to find someone to look at my "monster," and give me suggestions on getting rid of it!! 4951
I think half the homes in KW have those! I hated ours so much we got to wear we didn't turn them on at all and just used the under cabinet lighting I had put in. But with our big kitchen redo I pulled down all the drywall on the walls and ceiling and installed mini recessed cans through out the kitchen after putting up the new rock on the ceiling. I had mapped out exactly where the cans would go and left wiring for the final connections. We also switched all the bulbs that came with the cans to LEDs. Love it. 4951
