I believe the problem of illegal immigration is a serious one that will only get worse. Please don't post on here if you think the WALL will be built. It won't. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the situation? Something we can all do to help. I am not blaming the immigrants. It won't stop them from coming to look for jobs no matter how much we blame them or don't want them. I am concerned about the limited resources that any country would have to deal with an influx of people. And, I am not concerned about arguments that state they are actually helping our economy. I am aware of all of those. Any ideas to really help the situation would be appreciated. 4951

Militarize the border, that stops the drugs and can be done easily. But then the extra federal $ for overtime, drug intervention, healthcare for addicts, rehab hospitals that make millions in profits will all go away. Follow the money, drugs ( illegal and legal) support a large infrastructure here in the US that depend on that "problem". Think about it.As far as the immigration, we give them too many handouts. Try immigrating to MEX and try to get gov't assistance.... it does not exist. The illegals learn from the ones that are here how to stay under the radar. Deportation is revolving door, jails too full to detain them. 4951

There is no easy answer to this problem. Maybe we need to make the legal avenues for entry less restricting, cost prohibitive and extensive? I agree that people coming over illegally sucks and is super expensive in the long run. maybe they could find a way to get some tax revenue from the illegal immigrants already working and living here without them fearing  deportation. I know that's not ideal, but at least they could contribute this way.  But yeah, a wall? Doubt that will work and a waste of money. 4951

Army of drones. From there establish quick reaction forces along the border that can respond swiftly that does not arrest them but gets isometrics (name, fingerprints, picture) and entered into a national system. From there, all employers have to enter new hires into this system. If they pop up no job, no benefits. Make life incredibly difficult for them. Also massive fines for hiring them or assisting them to include churches.  4951

Well I think maybe instead or maybe in addition of a wall, a sniper's nest every 600 yards would work just fine. You could auction off seats in the sniper towers with unlimited bag limits to help pay for the deportation of all the illegals already here. Also, stiffen the penalties for hiring or aiding/abetting any illegal immigrant. These damn sanctuary cities should lose all federal funding until they get with the program.I agree. A wall is not enough. 4951

@KevinJ: There are American Embassy's in almost every country in the globe and can start with that one for a starter solution.

Here's an idea. The customs and borders folks should put special port-a-potties at all the places day laborers frequent like construction sites, Home Depot and Lowes and make them so they lock when one of the illegals enters and they can't get out. Then just load them on trucks and take them back to Mexico! Problem solved! 4951

@beastmode: Your suggestion sounds lean and doable if the cost of drones could be accepted as necessary to solve the problem. How could we get politicians to introduce bills that would make massive fines a reality? Do you feel that if there were grassroots efforts to boycott businesses that hire illegals that it would help or do you feel those efforts would just die-on-the-vine so to speak? I agree with all you said. What suggestions could you give to make this happen? Thank you.

@Steven H: Yes, I have often wondered how many of our systems illegal immigration "helps". Do you feel a grassroots effort to push politicians to change the way it is set up could help or is this desire to stop illegal immigration water under the bridge. Thank you.

A country has borders, we obviously are not a country. Is it not that the impression we give to the rest of the Latin American Countries? Has anyone tried moving or visiting Australia or New Zealand? Surprise! They got Laws. 4951

@PedroDePacas: I don't want to kill someone who is coming over to work. The poverty in parts of Mexico is soul-crushing. Though, at the same time I do wish they couldn't come over so as to force the people to straighten their own country out- if it is even possible. I would be afraid to even speak out over there against what is wrong.Thank you for your feedback. I wish we could get stiff, harsh legislation passed on the penalties part.

@coco1248: I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you are saying. What do we do? Just give a little more information on your line of thinking, please.

First thing that is needed is political willpower. We do not have it. Nothing can be done without it. A vote for Hillary or Johnson will create more willpower to do nothing and that willpower will get stronger with even more illegals. Once illegals fully understand nothing will be done then it's over with. We will have a fully functional open border policy. Crime that it generates will be tolerated and ignored. Unless of course someone in Congress or the WH staff gets raped or murdered by an illegal. Then they will say wait a minute not fair.  4951

@beastmode: So tell me flat out. If I started a movement here in Kingwood to boycott businesses that hire illegals or I started a website to "out" local businesses that use illegals would it gain momentum or it would fail from the get go? I know I would have to cough up the money to start and REALLY find out but, "Would you show up or would anyone you know show up? "  Thanks again.
