I need a bigger louder horn in my car.  Is that possible?  The horn in my car does not have much force behind it.  Could I get a truck horn and have it put under the hood?  I had to honk my horn today and I don't even think the dumb lady who pulled right out in front of me could even hear it.  Maybe she just ignored it after she saw me having to weave into the other lane to avoid hitting her.  Anyway,  Can it be done?     4951

@TEXASGIRLMAMMA:

Absolutely. You can buy an upgraded horn at Napa, AutoZone etc.; mount and splice in directly to factory wiring. Very easy.

Air horns are awesome but you have to wire in an air compressor with a small Air (reserve) tank. Again not hard but an extra steps and the components are more costly.

If you're not handy with the tools buy the horn and then go to one of our local car places like Kenneths, G&S (on np) or kingwood car on wlh. I wouldn't imagine it would take more than an hour of labor to get it done.

Good luck. !

Loved the horn on the late 80s Cadillac Brougham. Deep, loud and meant serious business! 4951

@TXtransplant:  LOL, Love that train horn!  People sure do pay attention when it's honked.  There used to be a kid here in KW with one.  I wonder if he is still around.  Anyway, I am on the quest for the loudest horn I can find.  This little horn will no longer do!  Sounds like it will be easy.  Thanks everyone!

What @txtransplant saidis the best. Train horns are awesome, but state law no longer allows them. Will fail state inspection. 4951

@TEXASGIRLMAMMA:

Be aware that If you do upgrade your horn to one with more amprage, you will need a pass through relay to not kill the existing circuit. It may even damage your alternator. Use a relay. 4951
