My DW and I think we need to get mom out for a few hours, she's getting kind of depressed just being in her apartment all the time. We don't want to go to the mall or Walmart with the tax free weekend. We thought about going to the At Home store in Humble across from Walmart. Anyone been there? We just figured she'd like to go look around. 4951

I haven't been in a while but the last few times I did go it wasn't that crowded which made shopping so much more pleasant. Got an area rug for a great price.  4951

Thanks!  When my DW called her mother this morning and suggested going there her mom said, "are we just going to look or to shop?" My MiL loves to buy stuff whether she needs it or not! 4951

It's a great place, and HUGE!! My only problem the times I've been is the strong smells!! I don't know if it's candles, potpourri or what... All I know is that it was STRONG!! 4951

Knowing how she likes to shop, what about going with a decorating "need" in mind and focus on just that.

Ex: front door fall decor. I remember that she likes decorating for the seasons. 4951

I never noticed that! I'm too busy being delighted. Lol. It's very reasonable price wise, lots to look at, great place for decorating ideas and incentives. Much more fun than buying shoes and purses! Lmao 4951

Ok so we made the trip and ended up walking up about half of the aisles and yes, the smell is strong. My MiL loves decorating for the holidays so she picked out some Halloween things to go in front of her patio at Watercrest. On the way home we stopped at Costco and she and my DW each had a hot dog.... I had the Ceasar salad with chicken.  My DW had to admit it was a pretty good hot dog! 4951

Cute purchases.  Where does she store all of her decorations when she isn't using them?  I love all of that stuff but the thought of having to put it all away after the holiday keeps me from bringing one more thing into our home. 4951

@soxs mom: Luckily she has a 2 bedroom apartment and the closets are big. I added shelves in both. Someday I will have to take a few pictures and post them. I'd say her Christmas decorations take up most of the space with Easter and Halloween taking second  and third place.

@klp1972, it is awful when you first go in. I always take allergy meds before hand if I know I am going there.  Same with Kirklands.  That store will nearly kill you walking into it.  @Chrisinkingwood, your mil will love it. Ya'll will be in a/c and get to stroll around and look at all sorts of things.  Great place to take herEmoticon

@Fallon:

@Annie: Was there Friday.  No inflatables yet. Still remnants of patio stuff.  They do have ornaments, some wreaths etc out.  Only a few of the little bitty weird colored trees.  4951
