The only thing I remember about that year was every time Dungy would call the punt team on the field Manning would basically give Dungy the finger and tell them get the heck off the field because he is going for the first down on 4th and long.
@SwaggyG:
I was curious about that and googled the Colts' 2006 season. Manning was 1 for 4 in 4th down passing attempts that year. As far as Dungy's suitability for the Hall of Fame, he earned his share of moments worth a bust in the Hall of Fame: only 1 losing season as head coach (his first season with the worst franchise in the NFL), set an NFL record for most consecutive playoff appearances by a head coach, the first coach in NFL history to defeat all 32 NFL teams, and of course the first AA coach to win a Super Bowl. His coaching philosophy of teaching and not becoming emotionally unhinged was groundbreaking in that it helped prove you can win without all that emotional theater. If you want to talk about players not deserving of the NFL Hall of Fame, let me know when you're ready to talk about Troy Aikman and Joe Namath. 4951
