I'm sure as most of you know our golf tournament this Saturday. We still have a couple of holes that haven't been sponsored. Yesterday the folks on ADC purchased a hole sponsorship and at the hole signage reads sponsored by "friends of ADC", any chance we could make a sign for " friends of KDC "? The money goes to all our kids in Humble ISD! Hole sponsorships are $200, checks can be directly to KDC, they can small increments so nobody feels put out by the donation. Many small donors will get us to $200 in no time! Thank you in advance! 4951

I don't get it. I've already paid some $2500 to Humble ISD involuntarily. Why would I be interested in giving them even more? 4951

@HollyHobby: Are we definitely sure the money IS going there? I've seen no proof, just an overly pushy person he'll bent on forcing his will on others. Given his tenacity one would think he was getting the money. 4951

@donnatella: Awe-ya'll need to give Greg a break-he's just trying to get the word out and get as many players/attendee's/sponsors for the 1st annual tournament of hopefully many more for the local community that is benefiting the same school district as Atascocita and KW. You can't go to any other tournament I've ever been to where even if you do not pay the entry fee that you can just show up and eat and drink and meet some good folks and have a good time so it's a community social thing as much as it is about raising $ for the school district. I realize there is not a lot of golfers on KDC from the golf talk I've posted about in the last few years-but for a golfer-it's a great deal for $75 that includes what it does and gives the oppt'y to meet a lot of good folks and have a good time.It may not be that much $ (4K to 7K depending-going to HISD) but Greg and his wife Lauren have put a lot of time and effort in this tournament just to benefit their community and school district and get together with their community-I've heard they both are part of several other charity events such as this they devote a lot of their personal time to. Gotta respect them for that even of you are not interested in attending the tournament. There were a cpl of KDC members that were interested in attending from the post a mth or so ago so he/I were just making sure we reminded them it was going on this weekend.

@cador: And this right here is are HUGE RED FLAGS. All of the posts here on ADC and KDC labeled as "money being raised for the kids" is in reality financing a huge community party. That is a bold and braisen ripe-off to everyone duped into writing a check for this party. If the food and drinks are donated, then the generous donators have been conned. All of this whoop-la and, as you say, only about $4-7k will end up going to HISD. I would be embarrassed to admit that in public. If @kingwooddotcom was fully aware of these details, and let the party promotion continue, I would be shocked.

@ET: Not at all. I just can't stand to watch people get duped, conned, and cheated out of hard-earned money they think is going directly to a good cause, when it sounds like the schools are an after thought, once the eating, drinking and community party is over. They are even inviting the general, non-paying public, non-contributors, to come eat drink and be merry. 4951

Because Donnatella has her knickers in a knot, here is how the math usually works:  For a shotgun start - 18 holes on a golf course X 4 players X $75/head (most are $100+) = $5400.  IF you get all 18 holes sponsored @ $200/each, that = $3,600. Total $9000.Golf course is not a charity so you have to Emoticonay to lock it up for half a day. Add in food and drink (not an insignificant amount of drinking and eating goes on) and some sort of golf trinket giveaways and you are very lucky to keep 50%....Sooooo, if you mange to fill both Emoticonlayers and sponsors....maybe $4,500 or so left (that is very optimistic).  They can bolster the take with various raffles etc. but that relies on people shelling out more money.
That is $4-5,000 more than the school has now and it is all voluntary.  Drop in the bucket for all the waste in our schools systems but nobody forced to play or contribute.

@ET: Et has it right-except drinks weren't provided free as you purchased these from the golf course. The food was paid for out of the entry fee's but cooked by some good folks that do this for local charity's around the community (including the Humble Rodeo/Cook Off) and was included (and real cheap vs having it catered) and may I say very good as they worked hard. Taco Flores provided breakfast Taco's and bloody Mary's. The Golf Preserve of Atascocita was great to work with. All in all it turned out great for the 1st annual tourn. Had around 60 players and I believe all the holes were sponsored along with some nice items donated from local business's for the silent auction. I won a nice tool box with tools provided by Ace Hardware in Atascocita along with some other smaller items. My team won the tourn and we donated all the $ we won back to the charity (as did the 2cd and 3rd place teams). Lot's of fun and good people and great local business involvement considering the short time frame and not much advertising.I'm not going to comment on Donnatella's post as she's welcome to her opinion. I could argue on her negative accusations but I'll leave that alone.

I thought it was a great turnout and fun event. I was only there to volunteer and can guarantee all the people involved are good, honest people looking to help our community. This event was put together to hopefully have fun, meet each other and help the kids in our community. If this is not your "thing" then PLEASE do not open the thread over and over again to post negativity. They even had 4 of our local constables play and they enjoyed it. I know it wasnt tens of thousands of dollars, but in time we may grow to that.  4951
