I think I stopped using this word when I was about 9. At that point I either dusted myself off and got back up or beat the crap out of someone. What is up with this culture today...old man like Bernie Sanders calling another man a bully. Absurd. No wonder he lost. Refused to stick up for himself or fight back. He should have called the DNC bullies if he is going to use that term. 4951

Bully tactics are quite common from those of little minds. I see no problem calling someone out when they use bullying as a means of forcing their will on someone.Btw, I'm one that will beat the crap out of a bully, both literally and figuratively. Seems too PC to me not to do so. 4951

I think adults can be bullies for sure, however, I usually just call them a**holes and not bullies.  Bullies are kids, ******s are adults.  Slight difference, but pretty similar.  And as an adult, you can only get bullied if you allow yourself to be.  Those are the same people that are always claiming to be "victimized" as well.  As an adult, people will treat you only in the ways that you allow them to, and if you allow people to talk down to you, treat you like crap, and/or take advantage of you than no one is at fault but you!  It's different with kids, I think though. 4951

My neighbor called me this last year and I about died laughing. First, he's a lot bigger than me and I never called him anything. Second, all I wanted was the cost to repair something on my property he broke. Effin insane. No. I'm not a bully. He broke something, admitted it, and still did not want to pay for it. After like the 3rd time telling him look, he called me a bully. Ok then. I'm a bully. Write me a check or I will see you in court. He finally paid. POS.  4951

@beastmode: In adults, it's often the bully himself that is the first to call another adult a "bully".  I've been called a bully by two people on this board, when they were actually doing the bullying.  It doesn't really bother me because I don't respect either one.  It's one way simple-minded people try to put you on the defensive.  It only works if you let it.  As far as physically fighting over adults being called a name, I'm too old to **** with that,  try it and I'll just shoot your ***.

I think you are on to something. Also why does EVERYONE have PTSD now?  Come on, WWII, Vietnam were wicked wars and you never heard of those returning vets being on disability from the sound of gunfire or the physical nature of war.Are we all just WEAK?

@Stealth83: No, they just had different words for PTSD back in those days. Like 'shell shocked" or the "thousand yard stare".

I used to work with a woman that was a bully.Yes. A woman bully. She took it upon herself to be the boss's attack dog that he didn't ask for. In the department I was in, she would confront those she considered "the weakest link" on a daily basis. And when confront, I mean call names and try to belittle the person to the point they felt subhuman. She was totally rude to those who were on her level but overly nice to those above her. She never admitted a mistake of her own but was very quick to point out mistakes from others to management.Long story short, eventually she did over-step her bounds and she was put in check by a pink slip. They gave her some line about laying her off, but in the years that past I was given the supervisor role in this department and she found out somehow, and every six months or so she called asking if her old position was available. I got so much joy in telling her that it was not available, and I would keep her in mind if anything came up. I knew it burned her inside knowing she had to be nice to me after treating myself and others like crap for so many years. Every time she called she said she was not happy with her current job situation.Hey, that is karma for ya.the point to my story? don't be a bully ******. 4951

@podunk:  You're safe.... unless you come at me to do physical harm, or you're putzing around in my yard after dark.  Then you might get hit with a 600 lumen light and the sound of a "click".  The BOOM then depends on what you're doing.  Emoticon

I was talking to someone who is studying PTSD for the government. What they are starting to believe is that people are confusing many cases of PTSD with depression. WWII, brutal for many but it only lasted a few years. Today, these wars have gone on over a decade with a heavy lean on reservists...going on deployments, dropping in and out of the work force, away from family. It never ends. Takes a severe mental toll on people. Not much stability or just many stints of some stability then instability...over and over. Reservists were never intended to function as a stop and go force for this period of time.   4951

I'm wondering what percentage of diagnosis of PTSD in veterans are combat related. I think most people assume all of them, but my understanding is that's not even close to being the case.  I know of one case where an airman was given PTSD diagnosis and disabled veteran status but never even made it through tech school.   I understand this anecdotal, but the question begs asking.  4951

I know a couple of kids who are just ******s.

But you're right. It's about what you tolerate. Eleanor Roosevelt said "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." 4951
