Yes, I think Sherwood Trails is a safe neighborhood.  I would rather live in Sherwood Trails than in a neighborhood outside of Kingwood.   4951

Define safe?  No, I don't think of any areas of Kingwood are not safe.  You are not going to find the same types of or as much crime in KW as you would find in areas outside however it does exist so you cannot be unaware and do your diligence like locking car doors, keep lights on etc... 4951

I agree that crime does happen in Kingwood and you have to lock your doors but in comparison to surrounding areas, Kingwood has much less crime.  If you live anywhere in Kingwood you will be generally safe.  You will still have to use your brain, lock your doors, don't answer to strangers, check the scene when you walk out of the store/house and things like that.   4951

I have lived in Sherwood Trails since October 2009 and find it significantly more peaceful and quiet then living in the center Houston Oak Forest area.

Yes, crime will exist anywhere in Houston and surrounding areas. But I feel safer here than down there.

I lived in KW off/on for almost 30 years.  I lived in ST for half that time, preferring it over any other KW village, actually.  Most of my neighbors had lived there a long time too and had more pride of ownership --  unlike what I found in other villages.  I moved away two years ago and I'm sure things have changed since then, but I never once felt a concern for my safety or property.  Maybe there was/is less crime there than in the higher-end villages, but I rarely heard of any break-ins or vandalism around me.  It's impossible to find a crime-free home anywhere...just use common sense, keep your cars in your locked garage at night, and install security cameras and motion sensor lights if you have any concerns.  And get a dog.  One that you can love and take care of that barks to announce strangers.  Best security system I ever had!

@Love2Run:   I agree!  The one in your pic looks like a terrier of some kind.  My small dog is a terrier and  has a big dog bark.  He alerts all the other dogs and us to anything he thinks is amiss.

That's my Bebe!  She's part Jack Russell and who knows what else.  They're great little watch dogs.  I just wish I could tell them to be nicer to the UPS guy.  They HATE that truck!

I agree ST is safer than being outside this area in general. But it does have more crime than other villages if I remember correctly.. It's mostly petty stuff but I see their major issue being a high amount of renters....they don't tend to keep up their yards or surroundings..they do the bare minimum to beautify and it shows. That being said, those places are selling like MAD bc they are smaller and cheaper AND affordable if you want to stay in this area...this is ALL a good thing and it will raise property values, and taxes too unfortunately, lol. 4951
