Gay Bi and Transgender citizens have to abide by the same helmet laws as the rest of us. 4951

Since the joke fell flat, I tried posting 3 different links & I tried 3 separate times. My message would not post. The posts were links to sites with Houston Bike laws. Check out Pedal Houston . com     & Bike Houston .comSection 45-326I also tried posting a conversation from another kingwood site and not sure if this was the glitchI tried. 4951

No it is not mandatory to wear a helmet on the greenbelt- BUT I highly recommend it. I've been a cyclist for a very long time and I would not ride if I didn't have my helmet. Been in a couple of low speed ( >8 mph)falls ( one on the trails- I slipped and fell against a tree -my head hit)where my helmet saved me from a serious brain injury.  Just do not know why people refuse to wear helmets -but it's up to each person.Now on my road bike- I won't ride with anyone who doesn't wear a helmet- most cycling groups are the same 4951

@Jpgurl, LOVE the new avatar!@SamanthaJubilee, not required, but can't agree with Jpgul enough on this.If you hit the edge of the sidewalk on the gbt, and your tire goes off, you are most likely going to eat some concrete or a tree.  Head injuries are no laughing matter.  I really don't get why people will not wear a hemet.  We had a neighbor get hit by a car.  He was at a stop sign, he went thru, and the driver of the car, was also stopped and she wen thru when he did.  We are not talking about a high speed thing, she wasn't doing 5mph.He hit his head so hard when he fell, he had brain trauma.   And a broken leg, arm, and ribs.He wore his helmet from then on.  And still makes sure to tell others to wear theirs.

@Fallon: 100% agree. People are crazy to ride anywhere without a helmet.

A number of yours ago I was at a local bike store. A gentleman in his early 30's came in to purchase a bike. He took it to the parking lot for just a short ride, the tires slipped on gravel and he fell striking his head on a parking brick. Needless to say he no longer needed to purchase a bike.

Just shows you that anything can happen anytime, anywhere. I am never on my bike without a helmet.

I especially cringe when I see Mom or Dad with a bike seat carrier- baby/ toddler wearing a helmet- mom or dad is not.   What do you think will happen if the bike falls and Mom or Dad hit their head????just gives me the willys. And 9 times out of 10 the adult is not very proficient in riding let alone adjusting for extra and squiring weight 4951

I wear a helmet if I'm out on actual MB trails other than that, I'm not wearing a helmet to tool around on the greenbelt trails. 4951

@sooner34:
So I guess you will not have any kind of mishap on the Greenbelt's? Your choice, not a smart one IMO, but I hope you stay safe without incident.... 4951

Wear the helmet!

I love the KWGBs and bike it alot. A few years ago while I was cruising the trails, a squirrel could not make up its mind on how to exit off the path and caused me to crash into a tree. When I turned to look back at that little rodent, he was on his back laughing his hysterically.

Fortunately I had my helmet on which was now cracked by the impact. 4951
