we have finally pulled the trigger on master bath remodel. yippee!  now, i'm having a hard time picking tile.  i know what i like, but we will likely sell in a year or so, so i want to ensure that it has mass appeal and is not too specific on taste.what do you like?Loading Image...Loading Image...Loading Image... 4951

Love the shower in pic 1 and the tub in 3. Very similar to mine and they really are wonderful. Also, the toliet should be in its own separate closet. Out is in the open is just no good. 4951

I prefer 1 BUT if selling in a year, 2, 3, and 4 are more neutral. Not everyone likes the darker look of wood. 4951

Pic 2 is, by far, the most soothing, inviting, and warm. However, I'd never have a cabinet top (edge) located so close to a bathtub. One good slip, and you'll crack your mouth/head against the corner. I disagree with the standalone tub idea. Sure, it looks pretty and a bit retro (i.e., 1800s), but not practical. First of all, you mention the added difficulty, expense, permitting. Plus, there's no place to set anything next to the tub, no surface to sit on and ease in, etc. Why subject yourself to so many added problems for loss of practicality?I'd go with the shower concept of #1 but the overall theme/color scheme of #2. However, what's the deal with the full-length windows in the first pic??? Are people really so into exhibitionism these days that they want the world to view their family bathing with ease?? 4951

I love the look of #1 but at my age I have to consider the safety of getting in and out of the tub. A tub with a ledge around is just easier. Plus to be practical, I need a place for my soaps and things. I love the look of dark wood floor. I assume it is tile. What floor surface is in your bedroom?  We have hardwood so I don't think we could go with the wood look tile because I doubt we could find a perfect match. But #1 is most appealing to me color wise. 4951

I'm jealous just gonna say it now. I hate our master bath. It is so ugly w the white tile that never is clean. No good ventilation so it grows mold. I have almost killed myself w bleach in there. Love the 1st one. I want river rock in my shower on the floors. That is next project then this house will be a whole new house. 4951

thanks everyone for the input...greatly appreciated.  i personally prefer the look of 1.  but was leaning more towards 2 or 3 because i thought that would appeal to the mass.  however, most of you are saying 1! lolwe aren't changing out our vanity tops or bottoms.  vanity top is cultured marble (light cream color).  and the cabinets are linen--which we may paint, depending on the flooring.  so if we do go with one, the shower would need to be more cream tones, vs stark white (thinking tumbled marble in the very light tones-subway tile size).   4951

I like #1, is that a door going outside in the shower?  That's unusual.  4951

Do you have an exhaust fan? If not, you can put one in pretty cheaply and it should help a lot. 4951

@buffaloglenn: we do but w this bathroom it's horrible. Please excuse how bad it looks this is what I clean about 2-3x a week the grout on floor has even started to corrode. We had major foundation issues so we fixed that when they lifted house the pipes busted on bathrooms. So then it leaked sewer in. Fixed that I use bleach , vinegar, CRL. It has done so much damage to floors & the shower. Just so ready to get this fixed next. Hoping this tax season will be next project.

@MarT: Think that is the reflection of the window.
